Hi All,
New user delurking... I just got my shiny new D2 - ta Santa (and wife!). The sound quality is excellent, but browsing around these fora it seems there is a general consensus that the documentation stinks, and I agree. I have a ton of questions, and I'm hoping you guys can educate me. First, I have my tracks named thus: <tracknum> <tracktitle>.ext. If I go to folder view, I see (for example) "01 robots.ogg" then "02 song.ogg". All good, and if I hit play then the album plays in filename order (i.e. correctly). However, if I get to the same album via the 'albums' menu, the track numbers are not displayed, and the tracks will play in alphabetical order. Is this how things are supposed to be? Is there any way to use the album browser and still play the tracks in order, other than to create a playlist per album and use the playlists? Bizarrely, the track numbers *do* appear when a track is playing - just not in the track list in 'albums'. I have Settings > Title set to "filename", and I mostly use ogg files. Second, My unit bluntly refuses to advance a track while playing from the DPL. If I go browser > DPL, and then play a track, I can press the screen during play, the on screen, pause and forward icons appear, but I can't advance to the next track. Is this normal, or am I special? :-) Pause seems to work fine, and if I engage pause mode I can then hit forward to go on a track. Seems odd to me. There are more, but I'll save some for later! I using the 2.53b firmware, and I'm currently using MediaMonkey to manage the files - tried Winamp but it gave me loads of grief with playlists. Thanks all, Glenn. |

I'm not familiar with OGG files, but my MP3 files play in the order I want them to in "album" view if I have them tagged correctly with the track numbers in order. If OGG Id3 tagging is available, use a music management software like MediaMonkey to tag your files with their corresponding track numbers, then they should play in order accordingly.
2nd one I can't answer, because I don't use the DPL :p Glad you joined the D2 family, hope you are here to stay. |

welcome to the D2-family
![]() There is an old and well known bug regarding the track-# field in ogg-tags. The D2 can for some reason not deal with them. Use folder browsing instead and hope that once Cowon will fix this bug. They know it a long time but prefer introducing new buggy features instead of repairing old bugs. Your second issue could be a problem of your firmware. I use FW 2.51 and DPL works the same as playing an entire album.

it's hard to say at the moment as the firmware update was one of the first things I did - I can't really say what bugs it introduced, and what was 'normal' in previous versions. One thing I have noticed is an intermittent problem when going to Settings > Information. On two occasions, the unit has hung when I hit the Information icon - a translucent white square appears in the top left of the screen, covering about 75% of the screen, and it becomes unresponsive to screen presses or the menu key. After 30 seconds or so it recovered. Other times it works fine. Regards, Glenn. |
