OK, I gave it a trial and deleted my param.cfg (after backing it up, of course)

What happened:
First I had to redefine country setting (now to USA) and then I found that all personal settings (wallpaper, EQ,presets) are removed. No problem for me, I know my settings and I have my backup.

The volume at "7" is approx. the same but of course its not the max.level. If the restriction is just a cut-off, I would not notice it at "7". I also tried to raise the volume: at "20" I stopped - just the same as before.

After that trial I thought to myself it would be nice to try if I can restore all my previous settings by copying back my param.cfg - it worked fine. (good to know when testing firmware updates!)

With my little experiment it's clear that deleting the param.cfg does not harm the D2, it's just creating a new one. So there is no reason to not try this option if one thinks a volume restriction is keeping the volume too low. If it does not show any effect, just copy the old param.cfg back to the system folder and everything is fine.

thanks BioMarco.i tried it.and yes there is a volume limit.i seems like a clipping limiter.i tested it on same song.i volume up above 40 (senn hd 485) but now it is louder enough and clearer at 32.

i think comparing x5 and d2 volume level isn't fair.because i read in another site(mostly a review,i can't remember the site ) he says x5 sound output has a default ROCK eq enabled.so it is a fake louder i think.

I'm glad that I could help you and hope, "doubting people" will also recognize that there could be a volume limitation in some D2s if COWON itself announces a possible solution. Please note the word "could" and don't misinterprete it as a "must" - individual differences between some D2s are not only likely but have to be expected.
