I was wondering if anyone knows how to reset the unit to factory fresh. I was fooling around with the firmware update to 1.4, and hit the harddisk format/reboot (hoping to start fresh). I thought that I had install discs in the box, but it's just for the MediaCenter app.
The unit still boots up, but the firmware won't update (says the file is missing even though I copied to the right place). I've lost the audio, video and Q5App folders (I'm sure more are gone, but I haven't dug too deeply. Recreated the App folder and transfered all of the apps back on). Worst of all, all my Mappy things are gone, and the navigation won't even boot up - pressing the launch button makes nothing happen. If anyone knows how I can start over, make the unit like it was out of the box again, please let me know. If not, I'm afraid it'll be many phone calls to A/S and/or a trip back up to Yongsan. Thanks in advance! |

Just to get this clear: does the unit still boot into Windows CE?

It does boot into CE, the os hasn't been ruined. The firmware is still at 1.33N, the programs are at version 1.4. I can't believe that install/backup discs were not included in the box, as this is a mini computer.
Will keep trying to get it straightened out. After I contact Cowon reps, I'll post how it went. |

So do you have the firmware files in the root folder on the hard drive? And are you starting the player by pressing the volume "+" button and the power button at the same time?

To both questions, yes. I've upgraded before, but for some reason this time I get an error message saying that I don't have the file (during step 4 of the firmware upgrade). I successfully upgraded the firmware in August, so I'm pretty confused as to what the problem is.

I am running version 1.40W. And yes, there are a load of bugs, but I have been told that a new firmware version will be released this week. Let's hope that it fixes a load of errors.
