Hi people,
I have recently purchased an iAudio X5 40 Go at mp3-player.de. The device is OK except one problem: jpeg files can't be displayed. None of the jpegs I put into the 'PICTURE' folder can be displayed in 'Menu/Picture'. I have tried connecting the X5 to either a PC running Vista or a Macintosh laptop running Mac OS 10.3.9. Having unplugged the X5 from the computer and booted it, when I try to browse the pictures, I always get a black screen with "oooo/oooo No File". I can easily navigate from this black screen back to the normal blue screen displaying the audio files. Even very small jpegs cannot be displayed (I even tried downloading wallpapers from official sites linked to Cowon and they can't be seen though I think they'e not progressive files - that I know they don't run with the X5). I am running the pre-installed 2.10e firmware. I hope my explanations are clear. Browsing the threads here I couldn't find any post reporting on this kind of problem. Is there somebody that can help me fixing that or can redirect me to some support site? Thank you very much in advance. PS: since this excellent player is no more sold, can you indicate me some sites where to buy: - an extra battery that fits. - a supplementary subpack (is that for X5L the same as for X5?) |

What are the specs on your jpegs? They need to be non-progressive and can't be too large, among other things.

First of all thanks for your reply.
I was not aware of the problem since I tried to change the original blue wallpaper. I got some at : http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4520 They are small pictures (73 dpi) however... One of the posters of these pictures said to have a X5L 20 Go. Anyway I'm not an expert in jpegs so will you please give me a link where I can get jpegs - no matter the subject provided they're decent ;-) - that must fit in my X5 so I can try? There were small vids from cowon originally present in the X5 but unfortunately no jpegs. Thank you again Marcel |

Read your owner's manual carefully. It mentions what size JPEGs you can view. You can use any properly xized JPEGs as a background (or wallpaper). If you have a photo applications, you can resize any picture you want as a wallpaper. Try different wallpapers, but, I find that simple background work the best.

Thanks for your reply.
My owner's manual indicates: maximal size = 2.5 Mo size up to 160 x 128 (pixels I presume) JPEG 15 fps (this I don't know the meaning) All the jpegs I unsuccessfully tried were less than 100 Ko. Marcel |

Did you make sure they're not progressive?
