Help Need some help with track ordering.

Hi, I just ripped a CD and put it in my D2. The problem, the ordering is all wrong, and it is in alphabetical order. I know this is a problem with the D2 since it appears in order in my computer. Please try and give me advice without using Jetaudio, since it wont accept my serial number..

Thanks

Using MediaMonkey or another competent music organizer, add the track # before the track name.

The point isn't to have your music organized, the point is to have the filenames be '<track #>-<track name>.mp3' or some variation thereof.

how would I go about adding 01,02,03 to track names (ogg files) to work on the D2? I'd rather they not be in alphabetical order and I want to save some space

Yes Kr0me, I know this.

Ok to automatically put the track number in uusing MM simply right click and select "auto organise files"

do not set your destination, just use a "." then use the field <track no> - <track title>

I'm a mac user and have not used MM to do this in a while but these options should be selectable from the auto organise UI

My tracks are name correctly (01 - title) but the D2 still lists them alphabetically by the title in tag.

We're talking about File Browsing, at least that's what I assumed we were talking about

It seems that the music list and the order of the tracks are based on ID3 information, even if one chooses file name under Settings/Display/Title, so that the order the tracks are played in will be alphabetic, no matter what! I have a couple of full operas (sorry!) in my D2, and I can tell you that to listen to the arias alphabetically is a pain!

Yep that's all correct, however if you have the track number at the beginning of the file name you can play your music in the correct order by using the file/folder browser mode... this could save you some hardship and torture
