Default Not sure what to do at this point. Brand new D2 - Bricked.

Tried to update my firmware. First one took fine. Second one did not. Now, all it get it black screen. Cant boot it. I tried holding the on switch for minutes even with no response. I tried the reset button many times with no response.

This is brand new... havent even had it for 6 hours yet. Very disappointing.
I don't want to send it back if i can avoid it. Please help.

Cry Well..... frack.

I suppose I will have to send it back. Tried the Tech Support Chat and they told me to try reloading the firmware using another PC. Thats going to do nothing. They said there was no recovery tool...

Unless someone would be kind enough to send me the recovery drivers. Please!

I can understand your situation, but could you be a bit specific about the upgrade process.
What was the initial fw on the player?
What fw version were you upgrading to?
What happens when you try to charge the player using the AC adapter ?
Have you tried charging the player for around 3.5 hours(if the battery was low) and then check if you are able to atleast get to the boot screen?

It shipped with 2.41. It wasnt a huge problem but it froze a couple of times playing a video so i just went ahead and upgraded.

I left it in overnight. Nothing happened. No charge screen. Nothing at all.

Yep. Tried it with both my PC and the AC adapter. Neither one did anything. I do not even get a boot screen.

I do, however, get the usual "New Hardware" screen on windows. And while linux doesnt prompt for the player, it does see it. So i know it turns on but will not boot.

Again, thanks for the response!

And why use 2.50? Try 2.50b; it's more stable.

Could someone-mymandarin? please post instructions for unbricking the D2? And, what files are used? I am NOT asking you to post the drivers or even to send them to me, just tell me which files I need and how to use them please. Thanks, Chris.

Wolfwatcher51, If I get your post correct you have a mandarin language installed, and want it to be English instead?

If I'm wrong please disregard this post.
You can:
1- Change the language by:
going to the lowest right icon (mechanical wheel looking like a sun).
- Goto system (screwdriver and pliers)
- select the first word (Load default)
- click up or down only once (they ask 'yes' or 'no')
- Save (the V on the bottom right).

Or

Goto the lowest right icon (mechanical wheel looking like a sun).
Goto screen
Select the first word (which should be language)
Take the language on the top (English)

OR

2- download the 3.51b firmware, and update your device,

OR

3- Do a format on the internal memory.

Upon restart (with version 3.51b at least) the device will ask the language.

Anyways.. hope this helps.

Dalmane98, thanks for the PM, got it. I need to study for awhile and make sure I have the procedure understood and that I have the necessary ingredients. Thanks, Chris.

@ Wolfwatcher51,

Your D2 is bricked right?

Hate to think I made a terrible mistake.

Dalmane98, please check your PM. You have absolutely not made any mistakes, please keep on helping those in need. I just was trying to go thru the instructions in my mind rather than just going thru them "live". I wanted to make sure I "got it" before starting. The second set of instructions did the trick, I feel I can do this now. I think that between having a dead D2 and being only a geek wannabe rather than at the level you and many of the others that share are at, makes us a little freaked out. Things are only intuitive if you already know how to do it and have some experience ) Again, thank you very much and I am sure I will be back up in short order, Chris.

Guys, you can't share that secret with us? My D2 is working, but my friends D2 is dead (same problem as "someguyouknow" had), he must use T60 instead now... :-(
