"Will know more when the X5 finally reaches the US and more people can report. Other MSC type players like the iRiver H100 and H300 have been shown to work with USB OTG so you can copy music from player to player without a PC. Does not work with the iPod (4g), however."

When I read this, it kinda bummed me out. I had big plans on going to all my friend's iPods and OTG'ing all their songs into my X5. You think there'll be any way around this? Also, whats the (4g) after the iPod for?

4g = 4th generation.

If any of the mp3s you want to nab are created or downloaded through iTunes then they won't work on the X5 because of the ipod's DRM anyway. It doesn't surprise me one bit that USB-OTG doesn't work with the ipod. ipods are crap.

Okay kiddies - that's enough iPod G4 bashing. Go bash the iPod Shuffle a bit for me though :p

Anyway: I really don't know why the iPod doesn't work with the X5. It should theorhetically work, but perhaps Apple has put a block in them or something. As far as I know it is not possible to connect two iPod Photos to each other either.

Doesn't the iPod have some copyright junk that doesn't let you take music files off of it period? I think you need to download some shady software and go through a bunch of trouble just to get it off.

I think you can use EPHpod (or something like that) to download songs off the iPod. Otherwise it doesn't work.

I love the stories I keep on hearing from Backpackers in Oz who always get their iPods formatted by iTunes ... it's quite hilarious!

hehehe yeah no bullsh*t a friend of mine bought an ipod before she left for a job in the UK and she was baffled why all the songs kept disappearing from her it as she ripped more and more CDs with iTunes and copied them to her ipod. It was because she kept deleting all the old stuff which she ripped onto her PC to save hard drive space (go figure!), then when the thing re-synched with the comp it deleted all the stuff that wasnt on her PC any more. She was almost sobbing after I showed her the errors of her ways and all the crap tricks apple do to screw you up, especially if you are unaware!

I was absolutely convinced how crap ipods and itunes and apple were when she said you had to enter the serial number of the ipod into the itunes software to make sure that the songs you ripped could only be played on that one ipod. And this auto-synch thing that can wipe your entire collection? That is just harsh.

Go Cowon you good thang!

The problem with the Ipod is, that it renames the MP3 files with cryptic names an sorts it in folders named 01, 02 and so on.
EPHpod ist a Program that reads the Database and renames the MP3s back to more reasonable names, while copying them back to a PC...

I suspect like Sony Apple love proprietary formats to much and therefore deliberately don't use USBOTG.

What's different in the Ipod 4G?

It is not possible, but because of flaws with the iPod, not the X5.

Oh I'm not saying thats the X5 is flawed. I'm just kinda bummed out about that. Oh well, hopefully some software will come out or something. That would just be peachy

Right, I don't mean that it's a bug, I mean it's flawed because apple is evil. I very much doubt that the iPod will ever support USB on the go, apple isn't going to compromise their money machine for something like *shudder customer satisfaction.
