Default Help with OLED III

I have used only the OLED III skin from the skin pack this thread http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19263. The readme that was attached to the skin, didn't say that I have to install the complete theme. Do I have to install the theme to be able to use the skin, or can it be used separately?

Would you please explain what you mean by "can it be used separately"?
Excerpt from ReadmeENG.txt of Cassini theme OLED III of Who_Am_I's theme collection 2.10:
"Install Theme:
1. Connect player
2. Copy D2n.bin (#Theme folder) in root folder Cowon D2
3. Copy D2n_rs.bin (#Font Patch folder) in root folder Cowon D2
4. Disconnect Player
5. Turn on player
6. Theme are installed"
which should read correctly:
"Install Theme:
1. Connect player
2. Copy D2n_rs.bin (#Theme file) into root folder Cowon D2
3. Copy D2n.bin (#Font Patch file) into root folder Cowon D2
4. Disconnect Player
5. Turn on player
6. Theme is installed"
As I said before the font patch file (version 3.11!) is very likely not suitable for 3.13!
So again if you want to use the Cassini theme OLED III without drawback you should fall back to FW 3.11 (or wait until somebody - perhaps Cassini himself - will have created the font patch file for 3.13)!
For my understanding of the problems of font patch files for Cassini themes have a look at http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showpo...6&postcount=68 and http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showpo...1&postcount=70.

You can use the skin without the theme and vice versa.

Do you mean the wallpaper (=skin)?

Default Help with OLED III

By skin I mean the screen you see when pressing the music Icon in the main menu (the music file that's supposed to be copied to the system folder to be displayd). The readme file says that the wallpaper inside the skin can be replaced with a different one. It also says that the OLED.txt should be copied to the system folder and acts as settings file. I did that to after editing it to fit my requirements, but it does nothing. So what is the point of that skin if I can't control it?

For replacing the wallpaper see excerpt from the chapter "basic operations" of the D2 manual:
Wallpaper
· Sets the wallpaper for Music mode.
· If None is selected, wallpaper is not displayed.
· If Defaults is selected, default wallpaper will be displayed.
· If Custom is selected, the image set as Wallpaper in Picture mode will appear as the wallpaper.
I can't find any hint to OLED.txt in "Readme Eng.txt"!? Anyway the configuration of D2/D2+ is not stored in a txt-file, but in various binary files in the system folder.
If you talk about the OLED III flash skin that is a different story! But I can't find a hint to OLED.txt there either!?
