www.what_da_frick_Cowon.com...that's all i have to say. Q5 too expensive. A3 has no major improvements, X7 dead, flagship device D2 only 8gb.....Guys...why bother? I'm tired of the bullsh*t. Anyone got any weed? you know, chronic? this just puzzles me why they are doing why they are doing? Are they trying to loose fans?

BTW, generationmp3 announces that they will be at Cowon's on Monday (I am assuming their european HQ) and that they will provide an update on the complete product line. They will certainly ask about the X5 sucessor.
Hopefully it is just an aberration? btw, what 'European HQ' .. many of us would like Cowon to have a European HQ (look at the Cowonglobal site and try to find a button for Europe!)

Either whoever resells their stuff in Europe or a group of people who came for the german salon. I don't know and I don't care. Let's simply hope that we'll get quality information about upcoming players (i.e. the X5 mark II).

Are they purposely trying to make it look like an iPod? Bad move! They need to stop bringing out all these flash players and concentrate on jsut a few products.

I think they should concentrate on getting their firmware right (even for just one model!), and talking to their customers .. a quick trip to Cowonglobal will reveal no firmware announcements for the last month (although there have actually been 3 releases for the I7 alone), and Q&A/FAQ/Forum there is just about totally useless (worse even than the cowon america one, which is already pretty bad compared to here).

What is the point of fixing the firmware (e.g. for the I7) if you don't actually ANNOUNCE it!??! What is the point of releasing a new product when, for firmware reasons, it DOESN'T DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE BOX?

New Nano screen is 320x240, 2 inches, while U5 screen is 160x128, 1.8 inches.

Not good for U5.

hey.... it acutally does look like your average everyday chinise player.

not to be harsh or anything againest the cowon suporters (if they're are any left) but man, I bevlive that this player alone will break the compeny or start too.... what exactly ARE they thinking? anyone know?

but wait a sec, the specs aren't on the top of the game here (46MW, 20h,mp3/wma.etc) so... maybe it is some trick? we don't know till someone gives us a picture in person or something. plus the artcle mentions its "for beginners of the DAP..." ok. but, is it gonna work? hasn't everyone already experence their first mp3 player though (thanks to ipod and apple)

afew of my own little questions without getting mad here.

why does Cowon create such a device? they already have the U3 and F2. yes... the U5 is somewhat replacing the F2 but in spec. terms uh... no! so what's up here?

users say the U5 is the replacement for the X5 but the way i see it, it's the replacement of the F2 which i fine pretty funny for that of the specs. of the U5. F2 has it beat!

Default a step in the wrong direction

It's really disappointing that a company that I used to admire for being at the forefront of new technology is now making such a boring, generic player with such terrible specs. This thing supports fewer codecs than my old U2! I never thought that this day would come, but I'm about to give up on ever getting a new version of my beloved X5. If there's still no replacement for the X5 by the time they've rockboxed the new ipod classic I'm going to jump ship.
Lame!

I really wish they would just concentrate on making the D2 more stable, fix the tags, video support, A/V sync, and the playlists
