Hi there and welcome to my first post
![]() As the title said, i was asking myself what DAP to buy and i came across the D2. I like it very much but know very little abou it's SQ and if it's genre orientated. I primareli listen to Pure and Chilltrance, techno ( soft ), dance, retro and elektro. Pianosolo's and rock are also somewhat common. My second question is what IEM might go best with the D2 and my genres? I have narrowed the choice down to the UE 3's and the Vibes. Other choices are welcome when avaiblein Belgium. Budget: €150 MAX but €100 preferably thanks ! |

Welcome to this forum! I am using a D2 with UE 3's and very happy about the combination. It's quite easy to configure the SQ to your liking with an almost infinite amount of possible settings. I've had the D2 for a few months now and I like it a lot. The interface is not for pocket use but quite fun to play around with.
Regarding earphones: The UE 3's do lack a little bass but deliver a very clear sound. I just add a little extra bass with the SQ. I just want you to know since you're also considering the v-moda's which are known to give quite a punch. Don't forget to check out the thread about where to buy. I am in Denmark myself and got my UE 3's from advancedmp3players.co.uk. Don't get your D2 from there unless you can live with a UK AC-adapter and an adapter for continental power sockets. You may want to take a look at mp3-player.de. Their prices are usually competitive (for Europe). Have fun with your D2 if you decide to get one!!

I agree with maxjensen, very customizable sound on the D2...
If your really not into vocals I'd recommend the UE 5 pro....great sound quality with alot of bass...I own the shure E500's only because vocals sound so good with them...had the UE 5 pro's and loved all music except vocals... I also own the v-moda vibes but I wouldn't recommend them...they don't sound as good as there cracked up to be...I never even use them because of that...I also have the Creative EP630's and I like the sound of those better than the v-moda vibes. |

tabv, you might have already heard this, but the vibes have been shown to need a lot of time to burn into the sound quality...if you leave them on for multiple days (the longer the better), the better they sound. there was a thread earlier that even had people shocked at how much of a difference it made. wader quoted a few people that were disgusted at first, but amazed after about a week.
so if you havnt given that a shot, id suggest you try it... and if you still dont like them...you can always send them to me ^_^ |

I can't explain the sound...it's like there is sound missing or something...kinda like there is fullness missing...and you can really notice it when you A-B test them against my other IEM's |

Now it's even harder to choose...
Vibes ' miss something ' ( and, indeed seemed über-overhyped on the net ) and the EU3 lack a bit bass... hmmm i'll try and strech to the UE5 EB but i'm affraid that wont be easy. Perhaps i am too picky. Anyone that could do a vibez vs UE3 comparision / review? I like it to be a good allrounder because i REALLY like the clear, pure highs/midhighs in pianosolo's and trance ( that "floathy" feeling...you know? ), the mids in rock and Elektro ( go wild ! )and the Bass in techno and retro ( local earthquakes are SO fun ). as you can see vocals aren't really important to me.the site I use is www.MP3shop.be ( they're international...try their .com ) |

I'm not a big fan of the Vibes either. I bought them about a week ago and found that my Sharp MD-33's sound much better. Much smoother sound with a nice thumping bass. I'm still breaking in my Vibes (24+ hours so far) so maybe the will get better with age.
The only thing I don't like about the MD-33's is the long 4 pole to 3 pole conversion cable that you have to use. It always gets in the way. If it wasn't for that cable, I would have never invested in the Vibes. If anyone, knows where to get a shorter cable, PLEASE let me know. ![]() |

I have two pairs of MD-33's, one for me and one for the wife. She NEVER uses her's so I decided to experiment with her conversion cable instead of mine. After snipping the wire down to the appropriate length, I stripped away the shielding. I found that there were two wires for each side. A green wire and a copper wire twisted together. The wires inside are tiny! No thicker than a hair off the top of my head. There was no way I could get this to work so I called my brother-in-law for assistance. He is great with soldering small electronics and even he said to chuck it in the garbage. Therefore, I went back to my long cable. |
