Problem with EAC

First off- I'm a noob, so my apologies if 1) I ask dumb questions, 2) I post in the wrong forum or double post, 3) I have trouble communicating my problem.
Basically, I have an Ipod and an X5. I use my ipod for casual travelling and listenning, and I plan to use the X5 for when I really want to lose myself in my music. Thus, for my X5, I dont mind cds wasting a lot of hard drive space or what not, I really care about having the best quality possible. I just ordered shure e3c headphones(based on feedback from thi forum), and i'm excited to rip all my cds (again) to enhance my listening experience. From what I have read on this forum, OGG is the best compressed format to put on the X5, so my goal and questions relate to ripping my cds in OGG format.

I'm using EAC to rip my cd's (also based on feedback from this forum- i'm a lurker). I'm using this guide to rip my cds in OGG format http://users.pandora.be/satcp/eac-qs-en.htm
I followed the guide using the OGG Vorbis encoder options. Now my problem, EAC is taking about an hour a song.... is this correct? Should it take this long? Also, EAC just keeps freezing half the time. I am greatful for anyhelp, as i'm just trying to rip my cds and use them with my X5. Either reply here, or if someone could be so kind as to help chat me through the process through aim (aim sn: hbkhhh45), i'd really be eternally greatful.

hbkhhh45: EAC is annoyingly complex, but equally amazing in its results. I learned alot about EAC from the forums related to the Squeezebox I purchased to stream music from my external hard drive to my stereo. Here are a few links you can review that might help you set up EAC. And yes, an hour is not an appropriate amount of time to convert/rip music. Something is definitely wrong.

I find jiggafellz the best tutorial site for EAC, setup my EAC perfectly.

hey thanks! Okay, I used jiggafellz's guide for ogg vorbis and it worked. I got my first rip, and I'm very happy with the results. I'm only worried that it took 2 hours to rip 1 cd. Is this too long?, I have no idea what i'm doing wrong. I followed the settings on the site. Anyways, thanks for the help!

I've never compressed a CD using OGG Vorbis, but it does sound a bit long to me. I've ripped man CDs in FLAC Lossless, and has not taken anywhere near that.

What CD Drive have you got?

Wow. I can usually rip clean CDs in EAC in secure mode in about 5 minutes. I have NEC 3500 DVD burner and an old Plextor Ultra40x and both get excellent results.
