Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum so be nice
Recently I have been torn between getting the Cowon D2 or the Iriver clix 2, as I'm sure many have been. I've been doing quite a bit of research the past couple of days and have finally decided on the D2. Although it looks like the clix 2 screen is better, and it also perhaps has better blind navigation, the D2 seems to surpass it in every other way. I'm planning on getting a pair of alessandro MS-1s and the D2 seems like it will be more than capable of powering these phones w/out the need for an amp, unlike the iriver (possibly). I have an X5L already and am highly impressed with the sound quality. I guess I'm too afraid that the iriver will just not sound as good as I'm used to. Anyway, enough about that. If you haven't bothered to read all that spiel, don't worry. I just have a few simple questions about the D2, hopefully some of which you guys can answer: 1. I was wondering how fast the scrolling was using the D2. I know that newer firmware allows this 'virtual UI' or something, which looks cool, but is this effective or not? From what I've seen it looks a bit jerky, but I've not seen much. 2. If anyone has purchased the noreve sandy vintage case for this, could you give some feedback as to whether it is worth the money? 3. Does the tv output actually work well for anyone? I have been reading that output for most is black and white and/or of poor quality. I'm not too fussed about this overall, though I would rather not waste money on a tv-out cable if I can help it. 4. I do like the design of the cowon, despite what some people say, but I would rather it was all one colour. I'm planning on painting the metallic parts black (I wanna get a black model). Is this safe? Has anyone done this, or even plans to? 5. Are 8GB SDHC cards fully compatible? 6. Finally, is there going to be a dock/cradle for this device? That would be sweet. I have a soft spot for unecessary but cool accessories like this Sorry for so many questions. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance! |

1.I find the scrolling very good the speed is good and you cant really overshoot as the scroll stops as soon as you remove your finger which makes for very accurate browsing. However i never use the virtual scroll thing as i find it ver inaccurate. I think it is much quiker to use the normal way with up and down buttons.
2.I would also like to know this as i really like look of that colour. 3.sorry havent tried either 5. Yes they are fully compatible with firmware 2.41 and above 6.i wouldnt hold your breath as i think the only player they made a cradle for so far is the x5.

About the scroll thing...There is a scroll bar at the side of the screen which you can drag in. This means that you can jump from a to z in about 0.1 seconds..
