I've been trying to use the v.8 patch, however, it's features aren't working for me as they should. The thumbnail view for pictures either freezes my unit, or when I go to select another picture, as soon as I hit the joystick (or "A") it will pop out of thumbnail mode and go right to the normal browser.

That, along with the lack of working USB host mode (which works with the standard firmware with my flash drive) have forced me back 1.91. I really hope you can tell me what I did wrong, or fix the issues if there are any, because I am really looking forward to using your patch.

okay, I found out why the thumbnail view was just closing on me. It was because I entered it by hitting "A" on my music folder, and pressing "Slide show", since all my files are in different directories. When I tried just opening a picture in my picture gallery, it opened in thumbnail view and played properly. Still kinda limited because they all have to be in the same directory... =/ I still get a problem with the player freezing while using the thumbnails though.

I would really love it if you added the functionality to use thumbnail view by selecting "Slide Show" on a folder which contains many sub folders, to ease photo browsing. Thanks for listening!

Wow, i love the thumbnail view.
Is there any way to store the thumbnails in a temp directory for faster viewing the second visit to the directory?

Nice work !!

Got an iPod touch for christmas from my work. It doesn't compare to the iAudio. The hardware looks nice at first, but it is tooooo limited. It can't even display all jpg images (progressive jpg won't be uploaded by itunes, gif's can't be dispayed at all) , won't function as an externa hardrive and etremely limited in movie files it will play. And again, itunes, blegh.

Wow, i love my A2

You should reinstall bootloader (http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/sh...t=12394&page=5) and then use .\PATCHED\a2_player as a alternative GUI shell. Read how-to description from UArtist's package.

The way to do that manually is to make appropriate screenshots using "Power" button, then move dumped ./system/Shot-C.bmp to the source directory. And finally, when you display collected thumbnails in thumbnail mode you will get 6 x 6 = 36 icons per screen - cool !

I had the same problem - you have to reinstall bootloader - that's all - now everything works great - new foxstream patch and FW 1.91 in one A2

Wow, FoxStream, I can't say enough good things about this patch. Installation was smooth and everything is just great. I have a lot of v0 MP3s though which I haven't tested and probably won't work. Guess I'll have to learn how to use bootloader then.

Foxstream, I managed to upgrade my A2 with the octopus patch 8 and everything works fine except the slideshow feature. Clicking the slideshow takes me to the thumbnail screen where six images can be viewed at a time. I can't seem to find a way to get the slideshow running, and have to hit the forward button everytime to go ahead with the snaps.
The thumbnail is an excellent feature, but the slideshow is as good, especially to view pictures on TV. Is there something that I am missing here? Kindly help.

Thanks

I discovered this small bug few days after releasing v.8, since I rarely use slideshow feature... I will try to reenable normal slideshow mode in the next
patch release.

Thanks Foxstream for the quick reply. If possible, could you also add an option of viewing pictures at random while using the slideshow. Its a good feature to have when you're sitting around with friends and viewing old pictures of all the different places and picnics you've been together, and having a good time cherishing those memories. No rush on this one, thanks again.

Please tell me what this patch is, How many of them exist ?
I use the latest firmware version on my A2. Is there any need for installing this patch ?

Default Does this patch work with 1.91?

From the limited reading I did on this 14 page thread, it looks like this patch only works on 1.8.1. My Cowon is at 1.9.1, and I need the 1.9.1 firmware for proper VBR MP3 playback.

Any way I can get this patch working?
