Default USB connection with DVD player?

All:
If I get a DVD player with a USB port, does that mean that my new Iaudio x5l will be able to connect to it via USB Host? How do I find out if any DVD player will work with my Iaudio x5l?

What would you want to use a DVD player with your X5 for?

Doniago:
I want to be able to pop a DVD into a DVD player and either listen to it on the DVD or use the Iaudio's USB Host selection to copy the mp3 file from the DVD to my mp3 player. That way, I have a choice of either using or not using my PC for such copies.

Interesting concept. I don't dabble much with DVDs, but have ripped a few to my PC so I could convert them to play on my X5L. Is the audio from a DVD a seperate mp3 file or does it need to be extracted before you can use it on a player?

Did you mean "listen to it on the X5"?

Anyway, won't work. The audio on a DVD is not an MP3 file. Rather, the audio and video are combined as VOB files. At least, I think that's how it works.

Unless you're talking about DVD's you created yourself where you just dropped MP3 files onto them. I'm not sure if the X5 would be able to access those via USB Host, but it might be interesting to try.

D:
It seems that there has been a misunderstanding. The mp3 files on DVD are music and speech mp3 files. I have a huge collection of old time radio (OTR) mp3 files on several DVDs. They are the ones I want to listen to on a portable DVD player and then copy to my Iaudio via a USB connection.

It depends on your DVD player.
What you can do is just to try the USBhost thing or otherwise try finding info about how the USB function of your DVD player works.
But my guess would be that it can play stuff from usb sticks but not copy things off a DVD onto a usb device.
