OK so I thought i should post regarding a few things i tried with the TV-Out.

After trying the D2 on a couple of TV's and finding they displayed Black/White i took the D2 and TV-out cable to a friends place to see if i could get some pics.

The TV-out function had no problem playing back in color on his more modern set, in the pics you will see the red line that shows the size of the black bar when outputting video to a TV.

The pics aren't very clear and i had to photoshop them a bit to get them to look good enought to post, this had more to do with my lack of knowledge about this camera and a problem with the flash.

Some good news i suppose i know my D2 can output color with no problems, the picture quality is more than adequite for a CRT TV, when using the D2 supplied video. It would appear that the problem with displaying the B/W feed may have more to do with the ability of a TV, i did read here somewere that the Hz has an effect on the display on older sets, it would appear that D2 has a more modern Hz output.

I also sampled some clips encoded with jetaudio at 7XX kbs setting, these clips had artifacting in them and the AVI was worse than the WMV version in apearence but the WMV was out of sync.

Gonna try another encoder to retify this problem in a while and should have a few more to compare some time soon

AussiePie thanks for the pics....that's just the way it looks on my small 20'crt...looks better than vhs...and it has the big bar at the top which doesn't bother me...I like how it keeps the correct AR.

Anyway Aussie the program avi.net I believe is free and it makes very nice 2 pass encodings using xvid or divx..

Also I've found out how to do 2 or more pass encodings using Jetaudio...I posted it in the "video's and Recordings" threads section..
