Default New GUI patches for A2!!!

hello guys.

this little program allows you to grab and save icons and images stored in the firmware.
moreever, you can replace original images in the firmware binaries with your custom ones.
this way it is possible to "skin" A2 GUI - make something like themes, just like winamp classic.

download from Rapidshare.de
download from Upload2.net

Delphi sources are included.
interface is simple. just load into program "A2_PLAYER" binary supplied with firmware, patch it and update A2 firmware with it.

keep in mind, that updating your A2 with modified firmware, you are VIOLATING MANUFACTURER WARRANTY.
but you can revert it to original firmware and "hide the traps" (of course if you won't freak it totally)

so, if you have no problems with it, LETS START IT!!!
who is good with design?

Thank you very much. Once I get my A2 I'm sure I'll be using this alot. I'll be able to make it match my XP theme (WinAjuda).

Edit: How exactly do you replace one of the bitmaps? Or is that not coming until a new version? Ether way I'll start work on my replacement right away

One question though. This may have already been discussed but yeah...

I notice your software allows us to save as a bitmap. Are the images actually bitmaps? because by the look fo the images and how the A2 has the ability to use .PNG images i would think the images need to be put back into the firmware as a .PNG.

It appears to me that the images use alpha transparency within the image to do such effects as a white highlight over top of things.

I dont know if your understand what i mean but yeah.

If you save an image such as one of the large icons, you cant specify what part of the image is suppose to be transparent.

I dunno maybe im way off. Sorry

I have just updated download link. now it is possible to actually change the images. but be very carefull. make backup of firmware and if you smell something bad, drop it and restore original one.

I've just added image replacement feature to it.
new image must be exactly the same size.
for now, there is constraint: new image must be same bpp as old. I will tweak this soon.

yes. exported/imported images are bitmaps and only bitmaps.

32 bit images have transparency. this is done with separate alpha channel.
look at left side of the program. there is all the info about the current image.

when I open 32 bit bitmap in Photoshop there is extra Alpha channel. but I have not figured out how this channel is manipulated in Photoshop.

does anybody know?

This makes me wonder. Is there a way to change the font color, if not that means we can use any light themes.

Yeah click on the Layers tool palete thing, and select the Channels Tab. Then click on the Alpha Channel and you can just edit that.

BTW good job on the program. Apparently I didn't spend enough time researching pixel buffers.

Here's a new Icon I just injected into my firmware. I got the icon from the OSX Gnome-look.org Theme

BTW the image links to the ready to load into your A2 v1.81 firmware, just load up the A2_Player from 1.81 and go to the image at offset 0043F518, and replace it with this bmp.

Hopefully I'll have time to whip up a guide on how to make em.

EDIT: Oh and it looks wonderful on the A2.
