Default X5 battery replacement succeded, but...

Ladies and gentlements,
I succeeded in the iaudio X5 battery replacement by using a sony ericsson K700 battery.
It's really very easy and it fits perfectly in the dedicated space.
So what is the problem?
The problem is that I bought the battery from ebay and the guys say me that the battery was 1500mAh. WOW! In reality under the fake label with 1500mAh I found the manufacturer code and I was able to find the real battery capacitance: 600mAh, sniff! So, as the original iaudio battery was 950mAh I've now a new battery but with less runtime than before.
Next days I will reput the original battery inside.

So the bottom line is that mobile phone are a perfect replacement for the battery, but now we need to find a kind that has more than 950mAh.
Any idea?

Dude, that's cool!
is the sony-ericson k700 the same as the k700i?
If so, here you can buy a 1700mah accu:

Is that the thing?

Well, in the first version I soldered directly on the outer contact forgetting the one for the thermometer, than I saw that I could remove the thermometer part and I soldered direcly on the battery.

Here a few images:
First of all I get the new battery from ebay with a 1500mAh fake label:

Then I opened up the battery to reduce the size to the minimum:

Then I removed the thermometer:

Here the result where we can easily find the manufacturer code that permitted me to say that it is a 600mAh battery:

Then I added the wires:

I opened up my X5:

Here we see the original battery:

Now I put the new battery inside:

And I closed my player:

Here the image show my X5 running rockbox without the original battery:

I'm sorry for the images quality, but I not very good as photographer.

Cheers

Cool thread, but any chance of shrinking those pics a bit? As is they're rather large.

Thanks!

Thanks TheChicken,
Your link seems very promizing, but how can I know that this is not another 600mAh sold as 1700mAh?
This seems an extremely high value for such a small volume, no one has bought it for his mobile phone?

I woudn't know for sure, but i purchased a new battery for my (ancient) mobile phone there, which has 1900mah. It does have a great batterylife. But then again, maybe it's less, i woudn't know.
The brand is MaxxCell.

Sure! It's about one week now that I use the new battery and as I'm doing some runtime tests, I use it all the day and I recharge it all the nights.

Never had problem and the iaudio stay at ambient temperature while charging ;-)

So.. how's it running on the new battery? Is it worth it? How much did it cost to buy it?

It's worth it if you find a real high capacitance battery, with my 3$ battery which is only 600mAh, I get less runtime than before.

I found on ebay 1700mAh, 1900mAh from MaxCell (sony ericsson K700). Did anyone bought it? For this mobile phone should give at least 2 weeks of standby runtime.
