Default Volume leveling and FLAC

I just recently got a X7 and I love how it sounds after some UI tweaking.

But there's one big problem: my MP3 and FLAC files are at different volume. The MP3s are significantly softer than the FLACs and I don't know what I can do about this because I read Cowon players don't read ReplayGain tags. However the MP3s and FLACs all seem to be at equal volume with each other. It's just going from one type of file to the other I notice a difference which has me thinking it's just the FLACs that aren't getting the gain tags read.

What can I do to at least minimize the difference so I don't get my ears blasted out when going from a song encoded as MP3 to a FLAC?
