hi! Sense sounds great, so i've tried to install it following your method. I've just unzipped the folder into the "system" folder in the Flash drive and safely removed the unit, then it rebooted. Nothing has changed.. Did I unzip it in the wrong place? Should it be in the root like the firmware?

Hi!
I have forgotten how to install Sense and I couldn't find a manual - which I think I had at some point. But I found this: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=63691 See post #8: "In order to install Sense, just extract the archive into /System/Flash UI/. You don't even have to rename files." So you have to install it in the Flash UI-folder within the System-folder. Try that :-) |

Well, after a year of lving my X7, praising it etc I am finally getting around to changing the UI to Kizunes' Lynx & Sense.
Reason: I was fed up with the scrolling which seemed difficult with fat fingers and the lack of art work. Some work, some don't, seemingly randomly. I think I'll get used to the new UI as it looks neater although the scrolling seems little different and the artwork still doesn't show. Tried cover.jpg and front.jpg (seems to work on some with the Cowon UI). 500x500jpegs BTW Still love the Cowon but think I'm missing something. |

As my music collection is about 92 GB there's simply no other gadget for me than the Cowon. Unless I missed out on something? No other gadget - available here in Denmark - can hold that much data. Alright, the iPod Classic is the only alternative, but not if you'd like to watch a documentary before bedtime. I find the iPod Classic's screen too small.
I've also had some trouble with some album artwork showing and some don't. After extensive searching for info this is what I learned: The Cowon won't necessarily show album art which is embedded via iTunes. And it certainly won't show .png-files. I used mp3tag to extract and remove all album art and place it in the album directory (you can make a batch command for that process). I then made sure that all (extracted) album art was in the jpg-file format (there were a lot in png). I then embedded it all again via mp3tag. Afterwards I renamed all the extracted album art - still in the album directory - to "folder.jpg" (and not cover.jpg or front.jpg). That did the trick! Cowon rules! |

Yes, I will certainly try to explain :-) But I'm unsure about where I lose you... is it on how to embed album art? or how to embed via mp3tag? or?
Just curios - have you tried to place a "folder.jpg" in for example 20 album directories (in the same dir as the mp3's) and see if that works? I use both solutions - embedded artwork in the mp3-files and the folder.jpg-solution - so I can't tell you if it's sufficient to only place a folder.jpg :-) |

Yes! Both. I may just not understand the teminology... I have looked through some of the stuff on the X7 Music/Artist/Album/tracks and .jpg Some are labelled cover, some folder and some front. Some are in a separate folder within Album, called Scans Some are in a separate folder called covers... Some are just a .jpg within Album. But there is no obvious line of right and wrong. What works on one Album doesn't work on another. Most are 500x500 though. One other thing that seems to have happened recently-when playing tracks, you would reach the end of the album and it would proceed to the next album in the list. Now it repeats the same album again. This started before Lynx & Sense were introduced. Still love my X7 but would like it to be a bit more consistant. |
