Ironically I got my Z2 the DAY after I payed for it. THANK YOU FOR THE PROMPTNESS OF THE SHIPPING COWON. O.O; mother of mercy that was sooo fast.
So here's my impression of the z2: I love it. omfg the sound quality is amazing. I have access to ALL my songs, Not JUST the tagged ones (which is why any other android player fails.) I can stream bluetooth to my car and have easy access to my songs! It's the red carpet/white glove treatment that i've been looking for from my electronics! Pros: It's very, very comfortable to hold in your hand...it's a TAD thin, which makes it forgettable/leavable if you slip it in your back pocket, your chances of sitting on it are pretty great. the media buttons work! It plays any file I throw at it! Angry Birds! it installs APK's without question! the wifi isn't tooo bad on the battery, however the bluetooth can be. Problems: Not sure if this happneds with anyone else, but I press power to turn on the screen...then the touch screen is unresponsive when I try to unlock it. then the screen goes back off and wont let me turn back on. I actaully have to reboot the entire device. It's happned 5 times since friday. Whats Ironic about this, is my acer tablet does the EXACT same thing, exept it DOES come back on the second time I hit the power button and the touch screen starts being responsive. Android problem? maybe. Other than that there are a few small issues here and there, when switching from speaker to bluetooth the speaker makes a crackling noise for a few seconds. My Menu,Home, Back keyes are WAY too senstive, I dont even have to make contact with the player without pressing the buttons. All these problems should be fixable with FU. Oh, and also the bluetooth "play/skip" buttons do not work....however that could be my radio... Cons: The keyboard is TINY when compared to almost any other player on the market. It's a software issue, and you CAN replace the keybaord with one from the market. When you set the alarm, it goes through the headphone jack instead of the speaker...the vibration is very weak as well. I wouldn't rely on the z2 to wake you up in the morning. it's a bit thin to hold...which most people would probably disagree with me, but I would have been okay with another 3 milimeters of thickness for a longer battery life : / just saying. Also the media buttons are very tiny. I find myself loooking for the skip buttons, but then I hit the volume ones. Also the volume button isn't on a "rocker" so sometimes when I press volume UP, it presses both buttons at the same time, and the volume will go up, then right back down. other than that the only other gripe I have, is that the flap/stand gets in the way when trying to use an android docking station, Ive managed to get past this by slightly arching the flap backwards, but it feels like it's gonna break off if I continue to do that. Overall: I have no major complaints. With cowon players comes some problems, some they fix, some they don't. Never stopped me from loving my X5. =3 If I had to compare/rate this player with other cowon models: X5 = 7/10 Z2 = 8/10 D2 = 3/10 j3 = 8/10 M3 = 6/10 I love the Z2's flexability. The J3 was just a bit too quiet for me from what I rremember, even with the jet effects/eq tuned properly. |

Glad to see another review of the Cowon Z2, they are very few and far between - I know there is 2 on amazon, 2 here [now], and 2 offsite reviews along with 1 youtube review. I'm going to write a review of the Cowon z2 I get sometime this month as well as pop videos on youtube as there is hardly any on there as well. Gaming on the z2 as well as everyday things like the music player and browsing on the interent..
EDIT: Scratch that, I just bought the Z2 ! Will be here at the latest the 19th, can't wait!

I decided to purchase a z2 after my Zune HD got outdated, and the thickness of the z2 plenue actually came as an ugly shock to me. The additional 3 mm's and boxy design of the z2 were disappointing compared to those nice pics on cowon's site. But still, you can't argue with the sleek interface, great physical buttons, ports, storage, and the sound.

I had an J3 prior to the Z2. And I really like the weight and the "bold" and clear design.
My love for my Z2 grows from day to day... just found out, that one can have DD5.1 through the micro-hdmi port. luvit... LUUUUUUUUVIIIIIIIT!!! But what I find really, really annoying is cowons customer service. At least here in Germany. I already send them several mails via their contact form online. No answer till today. Just nothing.... I hate that! |
