Default Onboard Libraries not displaying correctly

Hello there.

I have a Cowon S9 16GB and I have a problem with it:

I turned it on yesterday, about 3 days since I had last used it, and perhaps 6 days since I had last charged it. When browsing within the video function to select the film that I wished to watch, I noticed that the names of all of my files had been changed to something I did not recognise.

I tried resetting the device using the button on the back, but that made no difference. I entered the music function, and once there, saw that the track information (Song name album etc) that normally displays on the screen was in some form of Japanese/Chinese/Korean script?

When I look at singular files, I see a menu listing as follows:
System\Flash UI\browser_total.swf

When I go back to view the folders view, I see a narrow rectangular box.

I can still play music on the device, and view the videos that I have added to it (though I dont know exactly what it is that I am viewing until after viewing it for a short time obviously).

I have looked in the Settings menu, and the device is definitely set to English.

I have no idea what to do to fix this, could somebody please help?

The firmware is up to date I think? - version 2.53
