Default San disk memory card question

A couple days ago I ordered the memory card below from amazon. It arrived today and arrived in sealed retail packaging.

http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobile...DXC+USB+Reader

I put it into my brand new Z2 and when I tried to format it, I was getting an error message that the card was damaged.

I then took it out of the Z2 and inserted it into my computer to format it and it came up as only having 32 gig of memory, and formated in NTFS format to 27.3 gig free. Am I doing something wrong or the card truly defective and needs to go back?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks
Mike

If you format it and it still reads 32GB then only 2 explanations:

1) Faulty card

2) Bootleg card.

If you bought it from Amazon just email them and they'll replace it or refund your money.

HMMMM...
Hmmm...
Hmm...

Maybe there is a reason why this thread has no replies (despite rodster posting before I finished my post here) but multiple views? Without stating the obvious too obnoxiously and hopefully catching you before shipping it back, searching or browsing in this forum would get you results for 64gb having this issue.

Without backpedaling too much, the 64gb cards we buy for our z2 have all one thing in common -they all are in sdxc format on arrival no matter who you buy from. No current device supports that format but before pumping your fist in the air out of anger and pour the water works, there is hope.

Just because they are in sdxc format doesn't mean they can't be formatted to sdhc. Before you say I already did that, you said you did it on your computer as being the point I want you to remember - it causes errors and problems like you mentioned, it honestly doesn't know what a sdxc card is. In order for the z2 to read it, you have to format the sdxc in your z2 itself to recognize the card you are using.

In simple terms, the z2 will format your 64gb sdxc and convert it into sdhc. It will show 59gb in your settings=> storage, under your sd card area. It will be in Fat format though but will be readable.

So when you put the card in the z2 for the first time and it says it is damaged, just format it through the z2 itself. It will format it so it can be read properly through the device. You will only need to do this once btw...

P.S. that is the same card I have btw with the adapter, it's not bootleg or anything problematic with it. Just follow the bottom portion of my post and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the responses. I did some digging last night and found a utility calls SD formatter. I put the micro sd card in the adapter and put in my computer and formatted the card and it formatted properly and showed 59gb.

I then put that same card in the Z2 and it seemed to read properly. It is now showing peoperly in the Z2 witha format of Fat.

I transferred a bunch of stuff to that card last night, while the Z2 was charging. I'll be able to play with it more today. I plan on installing the google play apk's and get poweramp before I really start using it.

Thanks again for the responses.
