I have mine for exactly 2 years now. Will be keeping it and cherishing every moment with it until it finally gives way
. Anyway, yeah I have no clue what to get next (most probably the J3) but I guess ill only do all that "product researching" once my s9 finally dies on me. ![]() |

Hey old timers! I am receiving my FIRST S9 Tuesday...and I couldn't be more excited. I have always been an audio nut...but I am getting worse and I am approaching freak status. Most of my aural expenditures have been gaming based, such as the z-5500s I am just now getting rid of to the xonar stx and pc360 set I purchased last week. So..I'm a little late to the party...but yay cowon!
P.S. Now just for those IE80s. P.P.S. Yes...I am in love with Sennheiser. |

Why didn't you get a J3? It has every advantage over the S9.

I like the form of the s9 better, dislike external storage and otherwise they are very similar. Oh...and I payed as much for the 32 as I would have for a 16.

I still love my S9. There isn't any player I would like at this point in time. Yes, a more sleek UI would be nice, but then again, the sound is way better on the S9. So I'll hang on to it untill it stops working and then I will see what is available with the great sound quality.

This post goes on a bit of a tangent. I've had mine for about 3 years now. I've noticed that I've been using spotify/pandora lately instead of my s9 though. The sound quality is less than impressive, but the convenience of a seemingly infinite music library is tough to beat. Pandora ONE only bumps up their bitrate to 192kb/s. However, for 10$ a month you can stream audio on your desktop at 320 kb/s through Spotify. They also give you 320 kb/s streams in the Spotify iOS app. Android will likely see an update too.
I would like Cowon to release a dedicated music player like the S9 or J3 in the future for the great battery life. My phone/laptop can take care of everything else. This has been what I wanted ever since the J3 came out. If Cowon finally does release a product like this, it wont run Android. If it doesn't, what are the chances that it will ever see an app like Spotify? Insane battery life vs. Infinite music library?

Depending on your needs: J3 provides long battery life (64 hours of music playback) and Z2 has a lot of features, but only 22 hours of music playback. Both players have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Checking in, my s9 still gets 45 hours of music playback, still loving it. Its a bit slow, but I don't mind. I still haven't found a replacement device (I've been using my phone more, lately) either.

My S9 screen has been cracked for a while now, but since the S9 and J3 are both discontinued I really have no choice right now. I haven't been following Cowon's affairs lately but there still isn't a successor to the S9/J3 right?

still use my s9 often, and happy with it as an audio player.
it seems to still retain most of its original battery life, haven't attempted to try measuring it anytime recently |
