Default Looking for a good set of headphones for mixing EDM (and just listening in general)

Looking for some Over-Ear headphones to mix dub-step, electro-house, etc. and just listen to my regular music (Rap, Rock, Dub step, and some classical) So it needs to have a clear bass as apposed to just having a punchy bass, as i said, must be below 100$, would really like a removable cable, fabric ear cups (vs leatherette) comfort is important to me, i will be using in a Motorola droid razr running power amp and when i build my new PC, and sound card that ill probably come back here to ask about. my preferred brands would be audio-technica and sennhieser, but i hear KOSS is good too.

Also, if i was to get say, an iaudio 10, would that have better quality than my droid razr? and would i still benefit from an amp?

I was going to suggest the ATH-M50, but it's more than $100.

I would recommend Sony XB500's or the XB700. XB700 is past $100 but you can still look over it, and some stores make them like $98 which is borderline $100 still. The XB500's are $80 bucks but on Amazon i found them at $50 bucks as well. Even though price is much lower than Beats, i think quality wise they are much better. Since i am a very happy and proud owner of these headphones i HIGHLY recommend these to anyone who loves bass and quality. Here is my review of them:

Dimensions:
Driver Unit: 40mm, Dynamic, closed, dome-type
Magnet Type: Neodymium
Frequency Response: 4-24,000 Hz
Impedence: 40 ohms
Sensitivity (db): 104 dB/mW
Power Handling Capacity: 1500 mW
Cord Length: 3.9ft flat cord, Y-type

These headphones have a Y-type cord, which is a flat cord and it never tangles. Unlike normal headphones, where your headphones violently have a "relationship" with each other. You won't have to untangle them, ever.

They don't recommend these headphones for bass-heads for nothing. These things pack bass, and if your player is good and loud enough, they WILL vibrate your head and your cheeks. Their name is XB500, which stands for "Xtra Bass".

Even though these things pack a punch with the bass, they don't distort. No headphones do that if people still think that. Distortion is only caused by the source, which is the player. But my point is, these headphones pack some bass without sacrificing the mids or the highs. Actually, the bass IMO actually highlights these factors.

The Weight of them is pretty good as well. They only weight about 6.53 oz. I'm telling you, once in a awhile i will get so immersed into the music that i forget that i even have them on.

And the best for last..... The cushioning pads. OMFG you have noooo clue how soft they are. They are amazingly soft the first time you get them.... But once you break them in, which takes usually 2 weeks to 3 weeks, they feel soooo much softer, like new shoes. Uncomfortable at first, then they get better. But the first time you hold them in your hands you know that this is probably the softest thing you have ever felt, until 2 weeks go by lol .
Having these for a good 4 to 5 months i am VERY happy with my purchase and don't look back at it at all. Now, putting on ANY pair of ANY other headphones feels uncomfortable for me because of how comfortable these are. And the quality will not match up either.

Yes, these are Over-Your-Head headphones, or Closed headphones as more commonly called, but they are really good. Heck, if you don't believe me go to an electronics store, such as Best Buy. And ask if you can test these out and see if you like them.

Only Con i have about them is that there is no circulation. During the heat and if you are sweaty, you will more than likely sweat with these on on your ears. But hey, why should you be wearing these during the hot weather in the first place right? But the positive thing is you don't know that your ears are sweating until you take them off. The circulation can be a good thing too though. If it is a cold chilly winter, they act like ear muffs. Trust me, i live in PA where the winters reach 40 degrees and the summers reach 100. They really do keep your ears warm in the winter.

Good luck to finding some nice headphones for yourself, i hope i helped. If you need more information, go to sony's website right here.

Check out the Creative Aurvana Live hp's. The sq is excellent, they're priced under $100, and they can do boomin' bass quite well with no loss in the mids & highs. They're rebranded Denon D1001's,...they really are great cans.

Plus, they don't need an amp & go great with an Android device.
