Do PNP's make good mp3 players also?

I want a PNP that plays video....no doubt about that. I want something I can watch on a plane etc....
But about 70% of the time the unit is going to be in the car for the mp3 functions for my car.

I can see, with having the ability for photos and videos, me using the unit for alot more then just music.

I guess since I don't have one now, I am trying to find the times that I would use the device for more then just a movie on a trip and sitting in my car for mp3's.

Are they not practical for in pocket use as an mp3 player?

Are they the start of a whole home digital entertainment system?
That is what I would like to be my goal.....all DVD, videos, music etc. all be in one area and using one device (as a controller, and/or actual storage also) to control our music, movies, pictures, etc.
But I like the thought of that device, that has most of that information, being portable for trips etc.

Thoughts?
