Well thats basically it. Any suggestions on what I can do about it. Can I get a replacement screen or whole unit? Thanks.

I brought it to one of my soccer games and I already had it in a padded pouch. When I took it out of the pouch after the game it had a crack in the screen so I have no idea how it could have happened.

Also are you guys sure that cowon would replace it? I cannot find an email adress on their website. Thanks!!

You're better off calling them than e-mailing them in any case. I believe you can find the info at www.jetaudio.com.

I'm pretty sure in another thread someone else has spoken about a screen replacement. If I remember right, yeah they just replace the screen which, if you ask me is better than getting a new unit that you have to customize all over again

This happened to an iRiver H300 too. (Not mine)
I read it on MisticRiver...where I am a member, as I own both an iAudio X5L & iRiver H340

Anyways..
He brought it (iRiver H300) to school and had it in his pack. Got home and thought 'Lets listen to some music'...He opened his bag and he found that the LCD had cracked and the black stuff was leaking everywhere...iRiver would not replace it obviously as it was "Physical Damage" , which voids the warranty as said on the warranty for iRiver

On the iAudio warranty that I have,,,it says
"If any defect arises under "NORMAL CONDITIONS" of use...I'm not sure whether bringing it to soccer is 'Normal"
"The actual cost of repair may be charged to the customer or the performance of warranty service may be impossible even within the warranty period under the following circumstances:
Product failure caused by accident or carelessness"
So yeah...Be prepared to pay, or buy another one...however you may get lucky..

i read on dapreview forums that someones hd5 had a cracked screen.

sony said it would cost £70($126) or something. thats for a monochrome screen, however you would expect this from sony.

would be good to find out how much cowon would charge. i rekon they would ask for around the same price. maby more seeing as its a colour screen.hmmmm.

linoleum had a cracked lcd screen that he broke while mowing the lawn. cowon replaced it for not too much, it depends on if u cracked just the 1st layer, or the 2nd layer too. it was less than 100 bucks for the worse one if i remember right. somethin like 50 beans.

I second this (remembering the previous post around here).. you probably will (and should) have to pay, but less than a hundred bucks. I think that's pretty sweet.
