As far as I know, 128GB microSDXC card is not in production (may hinder until sufficient the 64GB microSDXC card has been sold.)

So 64 gb external card is the max for the J3 32 gb and no way to get around that?
How about the cowon X9 32 gb? Same?
My cowon s9 recently ran out of capacity and it is pretty beat up, so I was thinking about getting a new cowon with high capacity. I feel like since as of now there is no way to get around the x9 and J3 memory limit and never will be, it would be a waste to buy one right now since I will probably get passed the limit.
OR do you think it is possible to get around the memory limit?
If not should I buy the next best thing to cowon with more memory capacity or if nothing can match cowon quality am I BETTER OFF WAITING FOR COWON TO RELEASE UPGRADED PLAYER WITH MORE MEMORY CAPACITY?

64gb is the largest available microsdxc card and will probably stay that way for a while. The D2 will take a full sized card and you can get those in 128GB and there will probably be 256GB sooner than there will be 128GB micro cards. Even 96gb (32gb internal + 64gb micro card) is a heck of a lot of capacity for music. The next step is a hard drive player--you can still get some of those.

Edit: 256GB SDXC is now announced though crazy expensive for now. I want one once the price comes down.

so X9 and J3 both support the external 64gb micro card? How many songs is that total for 32gb with 64gb card?

The J3 can handle up to 8000 music files on internal memory, and 8000 on external, I believe. If you have low bitrate mp3 files, then this may be a problem. If you have flac and high bitrate mp3 files, then the storage will be full before you reach that limit.

You have to do the math yourself, try to figure out the average size of your music files, then you know if there is any point in getting a 64 GB card.

Bitrate is like 120kp which has to do with sound quality? Most of my songs are high quality so probably medium to high bitrate and they are all mp3 files not flac.. so in that case?

Got a quick question for you guys if you mind,

My cowon s9 broke so I wanted to get a new device just like the s9 but better.
Was thinking to get the x9 or the J3. I heard that the x9 is bulky and the touchscreen is not sensitive..
Since I need to use this in the car, I think J3 would be more manageable...

But....

What happens if I buy a used J3(DISCONTINUED) and it breaks...
Is there any places that can fix any electronics with good pricing?
Or am I done...

OR should I get insurance with SQUARETRADE? (ANYONE have reviews with this?)
AND BTW does J3 being discontinued affect the repairs?? Am I better off buying the X9 because it will be cheaper and easier to be fixed incase of being damaged? Or is it going to be the same fore both players??

THANKS!!! NEED TO KNOW ASAP!!! DYING FOR A NEW MP3!!!!

For anybody who runs across this and still wonders, SquareTrade ROCKS.

first exp with them was due to a friend suggesting I get one on my d2+ (one of the last 3 sold by jetmall)

It was well worth the money, my uncles dog got ahold of my d2+ (somehow dug it out of a pants pocket from under a blanket...) chewed the living crap out of it, i was just able to backup my files (screen was toast)...

I found the damage at 2:30am, put the claim in by 2:45, next morning around 8am i got an email from them with a prepaid return label for the device, they offered me a few options to get paid back, One was amazon gift card where you get 5% extra back....needless to say thats what i went with....

the moment it was marked shipped by UPS(picked up from the ups store by a truck) I got an email with my amazon gift card!!!!

this was an ADH (covers accidents) and IMHO was well worth it, Had I not gotten the warr, I wouldnt have been able to replace the d2+, it was a gift I paid 1/2 the cost of at the time.

I also had 2 fuze's i put warr's on using 30% off codes, well worth it in both cases, one fuze got cooked in a relitives car(dumb b**ch left it on the dash in the sun after mother made me loan it to her) the screen was COOKED(solid black), same deal put in a claim and as soon as it was marked shipped, got my amazon card.

the 2nd one just got to the point the battery wouldnt hold a charge, and thats covered under the warr, i decided, rather then try and replace the battery myself and deal with those damn little ribons, I would just squaretrade it......again same deal, as soon as it was marked shipped, got my card.

note the latter 2 warr's where like 4-6bucks each for 3 years adh coverage...worth it to get over 60bucks back in each case!!!!

SquareTrade ROCK!!!!

Hey guys,

After reading this thread, I've finally decide to buy a second hand Cowon J3 16Go.
My firmware is 2.23, I can see there is a newer one : 2.28

In this topic you are talking about firmware 2.26, did anyone have tried the latest firmware 2.28 ?.

I want to extend the memory with a new card, at least 64 Gb more, I'm not sur if I've understand everything except the FAT32 format thing.

Can you please recommend me a SD card I could buy ?

Thanks a lot !

Get a SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Class 10 card.

Reformat to fat32 and only connect to a computer using a card reader, not while in the j3, and you should be fine.

Can't I use a bigger 128 MicroSDXC card ?
Why do you recommend me a Class 10, I was thinking a class 6 would be enough.

Thx for your advices

Class 6 would work fine, but most seem to sell class 10 now. My card is a SanDisk 64GB MicroSDXC class 6.

Feel free to test a 128 GB card and report back if it works. But I suspect that it won't work...

I just buy this :

- SANDISK Micro SDXC 64 Go (SANSDSDQU064GU46) What do you mean when you say :
"Reformat to fat32 and only connect to a computer using a card reader, not while in the j3, and you should be fine."

I have a card reader join in it, do you mean I need to format with this or everytime I want to put a song on my card I need to remove it from the cowon and load songs from the card reader ?
