RIP S9***
June 2009 - August 2012 ![]() Power button won't work. It feels like the spring re positioned itself on the opposite side because there is zero resistance when you try to turn it on. Also, it doesn't fully move to the "lock" position. I may take it apart and try to tinker with it later to see if i can get it working. As a college student with limited funds, purchasing another player isn't in the plans right now. My next purchase was either going to be the Blox TM7 or something for my girlfriend. This changes things a bit ![]()

The simplest solution is to loosen the screws and ease out the plastic part. You can then operate it directly. |

Yeah I actually read about that somewhere on the forums. I'll be sure to give it a look. Thanks

I want to add that you should be very careful directly operating the switch. The plastic can break fairly easily. If that happens, your only way to turn it on will be a paperclip.

This is exactly what happened to my S9 today... and the worst thing is that I can't find any good replacement for it either (as X7 (the 160GB version) and J3 have been discontinued T_T)

It's a common problem with S9 units. Sooner or later we'll all have to face this issue.
It happened to me a year or two ago. Mailed the german customer service what had happened and they told me they could send me a replacement button for 5€. Removed the side and backcover of my S9 (didn't have the right tools so mine look quite a bit destroyed with some heavy scratches )The button itself can easily be replaced, it's a very simple procedure. Put the covers back on and you're good to go. Before opening the S9 be sure to touch metal to get rid of any electricity that could harm the chipset.
