I have recently found the original part which is made by Panasonic. The docking plug/receptacle in the bottom of the X5 is an AXR30341/0 which is a 22 pin plug. They make both plug and receptacle. Part number above is for the cable type not the pc mount type.
I am currently making a schematic diagram for the sub pack. The inductors are a bit funny but I have an inductive load test I can run as well as the capacitance test. The parts are not difficult to find but making the PC board is not for the Radio Shack electrician. Will keep you posted when I get the schematic down for the sub pack. As far as the main board, not too difficult to get the part numbers from the components but the board itself is a bit difficult to xray too thin and the copper is not pure so xray penetrates too easily. |

Just curious where you found the AXR30341 part. I checked on Digikey and the part shows up but they have no quantity of them and I didn't get a hit on the part at Mouser. I used the Gomadic connector myself and made a power supply that I can use on AC or DC that runs through it as well as a line out jack. Also, as a technical footnote, the picture of the subpack on this forum that shows the numbering for the 22 pin connector has the pins numbered wrong. Pin 1 is really on the right in the picture as there is a pin 1 silkscreen indicator at the far right pin and there are also silkscreen hash marks for every 5th pin with 2 left over on the left. This is just a technical note regarding the picture for the subpack and nothing more. As far as the pcb fabrication there are places online where you can use software to design the board layout and have a run of boards made. Don't know the pricing but I do know that a lot of hobbyist use this for there projects.

Sorry to bump this, but the headphone jack on my X5L seems to be messed up now and I can't realistically replace that part. Right now I'm using the subpack, but that thing is a royal pain (I've had to sort of glue it on for now as it keeps coming loose. But even ignoring that, the whole thing is in the way all of the time and annoying in general.) Might anyone have any decent sources for this in the US? Preferably one that has enough pins that I can not only run a line output, but also I'd like to be able to power it through this as well via what it would consider to be external power (rather than USB.)
