Default Help With Static Recording FM

I have been recording meetings at our church for about 3 years. The transmitter is a Decade MS-100 low power FM transmitter. The receiver is a Cowon D2 which is from less than 2 feet to 5 feet from the transmitter with no barriers.

We have two Electro-Voice RE-2 UHF wireless microphones. I was not suspecting them, but now I am not sure. They have not replaced the batteries in several years (yes, years). I am wondering if a low battery could cause RFI.

Many are now using those tablets to view documents. I presume they are connecting to the Internet although we do not have WIFI.

About 2-3 weeks ago static start to be recorded over the talks. This does not occur at any other location. I have uploaded a sample file, which has been shortened from the original 2-hr file, here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/299989/2012-...Static%201.zip Please listen to some of this.

I notice that before the meeting starts the static occus at about 33 second intervals. It also occurs throughout the meeting, but I have not verified if it is at the same intervals. It very likely is.

Recently an entire 2 hours can be lost due to very loud static. The volume of the static is almost uniform. Obviously this does not go out over the speakers. It is a problem only for the FM recorder.

It is not the building, eg, ballasts because I tested the entire building (5-6 rooms) with only me in it. This does not occur any place else.

Can anyone give me any ideas whant the cause of the static might be and a possible suggestion how to eliminate the static. I know the information I have given is minimal.

Thank you for your help, Larry
