Default Win 7 64bit - safe?

I searched the threads about this but still I'm very unsure: Does tcctool work with windows 7 64 bit version? Since it seems to have a 32 bit driver involved, I'm very unsure at the moment.
Can anyone affirm it does?
Have a D2 which I'd like to upgrade with D2+ FW because I like it so much on another D2 I bought used that already had 3.11 on it.

Thanks for the hint :-)

yes it's safe READ BELOW!

Note for Windows Vista/7 users:Tcctool doesn't work in Windows Vista or Windows 7 in normal state. reboot PC and HIT F8 before Boot Logo appears and select "Disable driver signature enforcement" and Tcctool will be able to be installed and work with Vista or 7. note that you'll have to reboot into that option every time you want to use Tcctool

Thanks. I know the post but it doesn't state anything about 64bit compatibility. Found the hint I needed on abi forum where someone posted he made it with Win7 64bit.
I just asked because I had some trouble with 32bit drivers not working in the past.
Greets!

Hello,

my D2+ when I start it, returns a series of colored squares...
I tried your recover utility, but when I try the command of tcctool it returns:

[INFO]Using device "Cowon D2"
[ERR] Could not open D2N_P.bin

I am sure I put the right command (I tried a thousand times), and I copied the D2N_P.bin file in the same folder as tcctool. I don't know how to use my D2+ again

Is it possible that your D2N_P.bin file is corrupted? Have you tried re-downloading it?

Just a very big thanks to all of you who have put this guide together. I managed to brick my D2+ installing roxbox :-( I managed to recover it on a pc with win7 64 bit so thanks for all the tips like the hit f8 for driver signature and run tcctool from cmd etc. The 32 tcctool worked ok for me from the cmd line. I haven't read through all this guide and it probably has been mentioned before but for any newbies like myself the command that worked for me was tcctool -d cowond2 d2N_p.bin but i am presuming that will depend on your desired firmware version for installation. Other minor point was my player was easier recognised when i actually held down the M and kept the power button slid over whilst connecting. Anyway thanks to all for taking the time and to all you tech whizzez apologies for posting such basic info.

Okay, I have gotten to the point where I don't know what else to do. I have a D2 that responds just fine to tcctool but when the USB cable is disconnected nothing happens! I have gotten the D2+ V2.13 firmware to load and the player immediately goes to the USB connected / battery charging screen. It even says the battery is fully charged. I can get it to show the rockbox boot screen immediately after loading a rockbox boot firmware through tcctool. If a SD card containing the .roxkbox files is in the player when I load the rockbox firmware through tcctool the player will boot into rockbox and work just fine, but if I turn it off it will not turn on again. I can get up to the last step with the normal D2 firmware 2.59 but can't do the last step since the player will not respond to being powered on when unplugged from the computer. But all of this is while still connected to the computer. I know the power switch works because while charging I can turn the LCD backlight back on by sliding it into the power position. But no matter what I do I can not get the D2 to turn on when unplugged from the computer. Just black screen. It is driving me crazy. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Default two dots

Hey guys.

I hope there is still someone checking this thread:

I got bricked D2 that didn't switch on. I followed the procedure described above and I made it until the step when you apply the second layer of the firmware where my D2 got stuck.

I started the procedure again and again several times until finally I screwed it even more.

Now when I run the tcctool, D2 starts but does not display the white screen but rather the 0.00 starting screen and gets stuck on second dot. The player is not visible in My computer. If not connected the player does not start when pushing power button.

I tried all the procedures described above but nothing works.

Any idea pls?

lucky im still here lol

you can actually do only one step and that's it. load the Firmware File with Tcctool and once the D2 is detected via PC copy/paste all the Files onto the D2 then disconnect then turn on. should be able to turn anyways

you try using the File in Folder 0? which D2 you have? Regular D2 or D2+?

Thx WAI for such a quick answer.

I have regular D2 and I use the File in Folder 0. The problem is that after running the file via tcctool, D2 switches on but not as described in the guide but rather displaying the Starting 0.00 screen and gets stuck on two dots. So my D2 is not detected by PC and I cannot copy the files.

originally, it just stopped working during one roadtrip...

then I tried to unbrick it using the guide here and it always went wrong in one of the steps....
