Default Album Art Optimizer

This is a tool to optimize your album art so that it loads faster on your player.

Here is a screenshot:

DOWNLOAD 1.02

Updates:

V1.02
- Replace is selected by default
- It will no longer pop up a dialog every time a file does not have AA.
- bugfixes

V1.01
- Album art is no longer scaled up to meet target size.

Instructions:

Once you have downloaded the file, you can run it by double clicking if you have at least java 6 installed.

The input file can be a single file or a folder. Supported file types are jpg, jpeg, mp3, and flac. If you choose a folder the program will search for all supported file types inside the folder.
By checking the "Recursive" check box, all folders within the selected folder are searched for compatible files.

Sound files (mp3 and flac) will be checked for embedded album art. If album art is found, it will be scaled and re-embedded into the file.
Image files (jpg and jpeg) will be just scaled.

If you select the "Replace source file" check box, the original file will be overwritten by the new one. This can not be un-done once you optimize the file.
If the replace option is not selected, the text in the "append" field will be added to the end of every file name and a new file will be created with the output.

The size field specifies the target size of the album art. For S9/J3/X7, the recommended size is 272 pixels. the maximum recommended size for album art is 480 pixels.

Before starting the operation, it is recommended that you review the list of affected files by clicking "Preview File List".

The optimization can then be run by pressing "Optimize!".

Edit: I was able to run this on my device's (S9) music folder and it correctly resized all of my external & embedded album art (10GB of music, 864 files) in about 10 minutes.

Hey, great idea! Scaling artwork to 272x272 before putting it on the player really makes a noticeable difference in performance and image quality.
A program like this is really useful with large collections, i spent hours last year scaling everything manually with Gimp (though i managed to automate a good portion of it, thank goodness for plug-ins).
I'll give this a try. Thanks

Could you add the filter [cover.jpg] more and [folder.jpg] (since in most cases covers are exactly folder.jpg of the title.) It would be nice if you could compile it in EXE.
