Oh, I see. Now THAT's entirely stupid, but Cowon has always been... strange.

a big part of why this kinda thing happens is that legal has to take part in every step of the design phases to ensure that the products not going to get them sued, if you think im kidding ask anybody involved in MS's last attempt at making a tablet or in developing the zune....(had the designers been allowed to do their own thing, we would have far better devices now, but, thanks to the patant/trademark/copyright mess the US has....we have lawyers designing tech...)

Some things that don't make sense. The obvious one which others pointed out is the downgrade from OLED (Z2/D3) to LCD on the A5...esp odd given the increase in screen size. Similarly, it's great that they (finally) decided on a 64gb model for this 4.8" PMP. However, why then go on to design a mini tablet sized PMP (7" Q7) with only 32gb? Surely the larger device should have AT LEAST the same amount of memory/capacity?
p.s. I'm all for high quality android PMPs/DAPs with larger screens (>4") so that it's easier to organize music, make playlists etc. I just wish someone would do a good job of releasing a decent product with some obvious features. edit: there are some videos up on youtube showcasing the A5 Plenue edit2: Anyone have a logical reason for Cowon sticking with only white colour models with their newer Z2, A5, Q7 etc? Only thing I can think is that any dust is less noticeable. However a portable device like a Cowon isn't likely to be sitting around long enough to get dusty anyway... It just looks too ipody for my liking and I reckon black looks sharper ![]() Last edited by sonic; 06-09-2012 at 18:13.. |

I apologise. I haven't really looked at the Z2 since it was first announced and linked on here early 2012. At that time, all I saw on the Cowon product page was a white, ipody (in terms of colour) looking pmp with the hardware which the D3 should have had.
Incidentally, is there going to be an A5 forum or do you reckon it's not going to sell worldwide enough to warrant a dedicated section? I've seen it for sale on exportprive but not at any domestic retailers yet. |

I think it will be sold worldwide, but creating a dedicated forum for a device is something I can't do as I lack the necessary privileges. dfkt is the admin here and he will create an A5 forum if he thinks it's necessary.

Thanks for the info. It will be interesting to see how well the 4.8" "Smart PMP - Cowon A5 Plenue" does, especially against the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 etc. It's just a shame that Cowon weren't smart enough to leave tactile playback control buttons in a "PMP" device.

Well, I bought one, I kept waiting for someone to turn up with one, but I got tired of waiting. Hopefully it will be here in about 10 days.

I recieved the a5 today and I like it. I just have one problem, the music player does not recognize the artist' name. It does in the album screen and folders, but when a song is played it shows unknown for artist. Anyone know a fix for this? Thanks

I figured out the problem, all my music is in aac or mp4 format. I had one song as a regular mp3 and it showed all the information. I have over 38gb of music there is no way I'm to go back a re-rip or reformat to mp3. Unless someone here has an idea.

Does the single-click controls on Android compatible HP/IEM's work on the A5? I'm in for one if it does,...

I found the solution to my problem. I installed poweramp for android player and it reconizes and plays my aac files. I am a happy camper. Still trying to get used to the android os and the a5 since documantion was less than desired.
