Default Working 64gb microsdxc cards

My Cowon J3 16GB just arrived in the mail and I'm now looking for a microsdxc card. However I just read that only earlier version of the SD cards will work

Quote:
[...] Future SDXC cards which conform to SD v.4 standards will have an extra contact pin and will be incompatible with the current SDHC slots but the current bunch of SDXC cards conform to the v.3 standard and are essentially SDHC cards with higher capacities than 32 GB.

Is there a huge risk of receiving a v.4 SD card when ordering a 64gb microsdxc card, and is there anything I can do to minimize the risk?
I've already looked at some cards and I have found both class 6 and class 10 ones. Would it be more secure for me to buy a class 6 card, since I assume this an older model?

Is there anything I can do to minimize the risk of endning up with a useless card?

By the way I live in Denmark so ordering from outside the EU would probably be too expensive.

Picked up a SanDisk Mobile Ultra 64GB Micro SDXC UHS-I Card Class 10 with Adapter from Play.com for £50 free deliv. Tested as 100% genuine.

Didn't need the free adapter because bought a Komputerbay SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC and MicroSD, MicroSDHC, MicroSDXC Memory Card USB Reader from Amazon for £2.99 free deliv.

Slight problem... 64gb card is formatted in exFAT. J3 only works with FAT32 and if Windows 7 is used to format to FAT32 only 32gb shows as available on J3.

Simple fix..
1. The Micro card slots in the MicroSDXC USB reader.
2. Use GUIFormat to format micro card into FAT32.
3. Transfer FLAC, MP3's etc on the card via USB adapter.

That's it!
96gb of music on the J3
Simples!

A MicroSDXC USB reader is a small, cheap device where one end is a USB connector, the other end has a small slot for your 64gb Micro Card.

This is the one I use...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Komputerbay-...3508921&sr=1-1

... but if you google "MicroSDXC USB reader" they can be found for a few pence (just make sure it is SDXC and 64GB compatible).

GUI FORMAT
Again just google "GUI FORMAT" (or use link below), download (72KB) and install on your pc.
It is a free, easy to use tool to quickly format your card.

Open this link and click on the FAT32 Format picture
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...?guiformat.htm

Hope this helps

It doesn't actually have to be a SDXC compatible cardreader. I found that my old SDHC reader worked fine with my 64 GB SanDisk micro SDXC card.

Uh oh... I will be using Windows xp to download and transfer for my J3 with the additional 64 gb card. Does that mean I will run into problems?

I should be fine with the xp?

I have faced issues despite using the Komputerbay XDHC card reader with Windows XP.
2 cards have corrupted, worked with Win7 but when I tried to use it with XP it conked again.
Try installing driver for XDHC before trying your luck, on safer side prefer Win7,
