Howdy,
I recently picked up a second 32GB Micro SD Card for my new J3. I was looking forward to loading the second card up with more FLAC albums from my collection, and easily swapping between both cards on a regular basis. However, I've found it extremely difficult to remove my original 32GB SD card which has been in my J3 for one month. I put pressure on the inserted card and it won't pop out far enough for me to remove it with my fingers. Is there a simple way to remove micro SD cards from the J3, without the need for additional tools? At the moment, it appears that my plan to have two 32GB Micro SD cards crammed full of FLAC files available for quick swapping on my J3 has gone out the window. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thank You, Milan |

Granted I don't have a microsd to try with yet, but it doesn't look that hard in this vid.

For me it isn't difficult to insert/eject, either. (Works for me like shown in the video above)

My SD Card doesn't pop out without a struggle.
When it does pop out, it is very difficult to pull out with my fingers. I haven't been able to completely remove the SD card since I put it in my J3 last month. Milan |

I have the same problem, (bite my nails, so I don't have anything to grab the card with.)
![]() Anyway, a pair of tweezers works well to grab the end of the card. |

Let your nails grow a little longer.
It might be possible to improve the fit with fine sandpaper. Try using a pen on the edges of the card and then insert/remove it a few times. Where the ink has worn off, sandpaper. Use a magnifying glass. Blow free of dust. Repeat until the card slides in/out easy. Note: I have not tried this, my card is very easy to remove and insert.

I'm still having trouble removing the Micro SD card from my J3.
I've used a penny to push the card deep into the J3 and it still won't eject. I've even picked up a pair of needle nose tweezers to attempt to remove the card but no luck. Should I use something narrow to poke the indention to the left of the SD card slot? Perhaps, that will trigger the release mechanism, allowing me to remove the card with tweezers? I'm very apprehensive about prodding my J3 with foreign objects. I don't want to damage my new gadget under any circumstances. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You, Milan |

Apologies if I misunderstood your post, I was under the impression that your card did eject, only not far enough out to grab it with your fingers.
The only thing I can do is describe how mine reacts and hope it helps. I use the tip of a ball-point to press the card down approx. 1mm. You should also hear a click as the lock releases. The card then protrudes about 1-2mm from the J3 frame. This is where I use the tweezers to grab it. To me if you don't hear a click then the lock-mechanism isn't releasing. Here I can't help you as to wether something pushed down the side of the card will release it. |

My good friend who is an engineer, attempted to remove the SD Card from my J3 and was unable. My friend believes the spring release mechanism is faulty. He he encouraged me to GASP... send my J3 to Cowon for warranty replacement/repair.
I really don't want to do this. I wasn't my usual happy self during the transition time between my dead S9 and my new J3. Surely, there has to be a way I can resolve this issue on my own without sending it back to Cowon. I've heard Cowon's warranty service is very slow. I couldn't imagine being without my J3 for weeks (it's my only portable digital audio player). What do you guys think? I could always order a new J3 from Amazon and return my "faulty" J3 to them. However, this seems dishonest to me. What do you all think? I *really* don't want to be without my music for weeks! Thank You, Milan |

If you need your music that badly, buy a backup player. I still have a functioning D2, which I keep in case something goes wrong with my J3 and it needs to be repaired. I also take my D2 with me when I travel, in case of accidents. I certainly wouldn't want to be without a good player (mainly for audiobooks) for any period of time, and given that no technology is failure proof, it's best to have a fallback strategy. I know that the Cowon agent in Australia sells refurbished Cowon players at a reduced price - maybe your supplier does the same thing and you could get a second one reasonably cheaply.

I was able to successfully remove the Sandisk MicroSD Card last week.
Upon returning from work last Monday, I prepared the J3 for charging. I noticed that the SD card was sticking out little further than usual. I used my pair of ultra fine tweezers and yanked the card out. I inserted my new G-Skill card and played with it for a while. I noticed that I could easily get the G-Skill card to pop out, simply by pressing on it. I think the Sandisk card is has some manufacturing residue on it that caused it to get stuck in my J3. I'll use a card reader in hopes of removing this residue with friction. This ABI thread was a big help: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68355 Case closed! ![]() Milan |

Thanks for the tip.
I have over 300GB in FLAC files ripped from my purchased/legally obtained CDs. 64GB won't cut it. ![]() I'll keep buying 32GB MicroSD cards as they go on sale at NewEgg.com. Once I have 10 32GB class 6 or higher cards, I'll be set! Milan |
