Hey guys... Have had my D2 for well over a year now...
I had to put it aside for a month and when I went back to it I noticed that the power button is loose and it doesn't turn on the d2. I can pop out the slider... reveals some small gear or something under it... Guessing since I'm over the year warranty of cowon they dont do anything without charging... Should I try opening it and fixing it? It just seems like the power slider doesnt touch anything when i move it to turn it on... no resistance like it had before. Thanks! |

Do you have any photos of it?
I would like to see what this small gear or something it is that you are describing. If it's what I think it is, then you could probably apply a bit of glue to the right spot and re-attach the switch. ![]() |

sorry to hear about your problem. there was one user here not too long ago with that problem and he fixed it by opening on the casing of the device. you could try it. a spring or some sort was un attached and he put it back in place. maybe this could be fixed. try it.

FURR : you are right... It does feel like there is a spring missing.. I will open it within the next few days.
THAXOS: I will post a few pictures up when I get the chance.. Hopefully it will be a quick fix that doesn't require any further assistance from you guys. Thanks!! |

ohh!!! sorry for double posting!! but guy uh... i forget ur name but if you take the back off and remove the batery then take something small like idk i used a tiny screwdriver. then put it inbetween the powerslider and the little black thing the slider attaches to. (the thing that slides and triggers the power/lock) and use the pressure from the screwdriver as a lever to slightly push the sliding thing "down" or tward the bottem of the player. then try it and see if it works. for me the peices inside that thing got dislodged and loose and needed some tightening.
oh and i am sorry for the lowtech instructions. oh well i already ordered a new one. ha now i have two how sweet is that! |

It's littlebit offtopic, but i dont want to start a new topic just for this small question about power switch..
i have my d2 just one week, so its almost new. However, im scared because my power switch is kind of loose.. i can "swing" it little bit. Is it normal, or should i be afraid that it will fall off or something? (sorry for my english, i dont know what word should i use for "swinging power switch" ![]() |

What exactly do you mean by swinging? In what direction if you were holding the D2 vertical and the touchscreen was facing you?

sorry guys for the late reply (gone to college, heh!)
anyways, I was able to open up the d2 (easy! just unscrew and pull!) it was a SIMPLE fix, theres a small black box that's connected to the switch that extrudes out, and the black box fits between two teeth that stick out of the power switch from the inside. in my case, the black box just had squeezed itself out for some reason. Anyways, i just put it back in place. and it works like a charm. the power switch is a big loosy, and whoever posted the post about their power switch, i think itll be okay. I'll have to keep using it! |

I was a bit distraught because a new D2/D2+ seems to be hard to come by these days. I had already begun the process of researching potential replacements, but no other DMP looks appealing at the moment. This fix saved me from buying a newer (lesser?) DMP which might compromise my preferences. Cheers! |

This happened to me as well, except in my case this black switch actually broke. After a little researching I found out the Sony PSP1000/2000/3000 uses exactly the same kind of switch, and finding replacements for these isn’t too hard.
So today I’ve soldered on the replacement switch and it’s working just fine -- I hope it’ll last another 4 years like the old one did. I see no reason to buy a new PMP just yet ![]() |
