Admittedly though, a little over half my music is Rock and that's what I mainly tested and modified them with, but as I said, it works well with everything else.

EQ-
80 Hz Normal: +6 dB (If your phones are new/not burned in, you can increase it to +7 dB if you'd like)
220 Hz Wide: +3 dB (I've proved to myself many times that any higher on this setting only creates problems)
1.4 kHz Wide: +5 dB (You can try +4 dB if it's to your preference)
3.0 kHz Wide: +5 dB
11.7 kHz Wide: +9 dB

BBE+-
BBE: 5
Mach3Bass: 4 (If your phones are new/not burned in, you can increase it to 5, similarly like with the 80 Hz setting)
3D Surround: 1 (Your choice to keep it off or at 1...)
MP Enhance: On (Also your choice to keep it on or off. I like the occasional noticeable improvements it makes and it never ruins the sound really...)

SE-
Stereo Enhance: 3 (Your choice to keep it 1 through 4)
Reverb: Off

*Of course everything can be changed to your preference. I was mentioning subtle differences that wouldn't change the essence of my settings.

This might work with the Klipsch S4's as well but I'm not sure. I've just heard the sound signature of the two are similar with the Brainwavz M2's just doing certain things better.
I am using a VSonic GR07 IEM, and I've tried most of the settings in here, and your settings sounds the best. They sound full bodied pretty crystal clear and and have deep punch in the bass. Rock, Metal, Techno, PsyTrance all sound good with these.
I dont seem to like any other settings after having yours.

Thanks again.

i know cowon is not meant to suffer with audio clipping but it really does at higher volumes (probably less so with an amp thats designed for various inputs).

the usual method i use for setting up the various volumes on my pc is to set the player volume at around 50-60% (never under 50, over if it generally sounds a little understated) and then use any secondary volume (amp) to reach the levels needed for enjoyable listening.
if it sounds week and flat, raise the player volume. if it consistently reaches painfully high volume on the louder sounds but quieter sounds are hard to hear, lower the player volume and raise the amp volume.
once you find the sweet spot you will find it sounds good whatever file you play with the exception of extreme high or low volume recordings.

im no audio pro but ive had to deal with multiple volume level systems for many years and the above works for me as a general rule.

the eq settings are all down to you as a personal preference, get the volume setup first and then move onto the eq.
listen to a very wide range of high quality\flac audio and never make a settings change based on one album or song, not all albums are perfectly recorded and converted.

as you have an amp you dont really need to use positive eq values, if a frequency is too quiet, turn the amp up a lil, then lower all but the frequency you wish to be higher and you will get a more rounded well balanced sound.

Does anyone have a good Jet Effect setting for 80s hard rock/metal on the J3 when listening with UM3X earphones?

I am using Taha's settings with the UM3X/J3 and they sound great!

5 80hz normal
3 220hz wide
3 780 hz wide
9 3 khz wide
10 9 khz wide

bbe 10
mach3bass 7
3d surround 2
mp on
st 3

I'm just curious if anyone has a better Jet Effect setting for this particular set up?

Thanks,

Milan

Yeah the eq and effects dont work so well together, it seems either very low eq levels and mid to high effects, or higher eq values without the effects Work best.

Stereo enhance is the main problem ime.

I would like to go through this thread and calculate the averages for all users, just for curiosities sake.

Settings are only interesting for a particular headphone.
And lot of people here have weird taste, by boosting bass up to distortion (just push 80hz & 200hz to max, & mach3bass too ).

I discovered these settings on the J3 Head-Fi EQ thread yesterday.
I think these are very good settings for a J3/UM3X pairing.

http://www.head-fi.org/t/531603/cowo...er-eq-settings

105hz -4db Wide

500hz 0db wide

1.1 khz +2db wide

4.1 khz +4db wide

13 khz +2db wide

BBE 10

Mach3Bass 10

3D Surround off
MP Enhance on

stereo enhancement 6

Reverb off

What do you think?

I use your settings as a basis for mine after a little tweaking using Vsonic GR07 iem's. One thing I've noticed is when you're adjusting each freq band ie.80Hz you can scroll left or right through other freq as well like 175, 135, 105 etc so if you set 80Hz at say 5 you adjust the other to the same setting as well. Does this make a difference which freq you choose to adjust out of the 4 or so in the group?

Default Keen to find another Jeteffect EQ Settings

I've had the Cowon J3 for quite some time now... but haven't really had the time to study and get acquainted with the whole setting tweaking thing. Its been hard to find another person who seems to own a pair of Bowers & Wilkins P5s. (Love these things... amazing) Anyone?

My old Equalizer Settings that I've been using for a long time... and been to lazy to change:

Low: 175hz (12) Wide
Mid: 500hz (10) Wide
Mids: 1.4kHz (10) Normal
Mid: 4.1kHz (10) Wide
High: 6.9kHz (12) Wide

BBE: 9
M3B: 9
3D: 3
MP Enhance: on

SE: 6
Rev: 3

I've been told my settings are ridiculous... they sound decent on whatever earphones (cheap ones) when I go to sleep... but aren't always that great with my headphones (B&W P5s)

Any enlightenment on the subject would be amazing
