Has anyone seen a side-by-side comparison image of the Z2 screen versus J3 or S9 playing video? Ideally the same exact video.
I currently have an S9 and I use it primarily for video, but would like to upgrade to the Z2, but I am not sure the cost is worth the extra size (3.3 to 3.7). If you have both players, I would love to see a comparison shot of both player with the same video clip. Thanks in advance. |

normally, the z2 is better, only video-wise,... but consider the lag, in some videos, the thing that it is an (better than d3) (but still [experimental]) cowon android device, it could not be the best ideea... also, the life time is not the same... it depends, a lot on other things...
consider to buy cowon a5, for video... it has a better battery life, better screen, and it will play the same video better.... [i have never seen if cowon a5, nor z2 have the super amoled feature... but both of them should play videos, better than s9, considering screen size, and other features!

Thanks for the suggestion.
I think that the Z2 and the D3 have the same 16M colors AMOLED display but at a higher resolution; 3/7" 800x400 versus S9/J3's 3.3" 480x272. As for the A5, I am not as interested since the A5 has a bigger yet poorer quality 4.8" LCD screen, 480x800 (Z2: 3.7" AMOLED, 480x800) and has a very chunky design probably due to the larger battery... ![]() Last edited by razput1n; 04-30-2012 at 06:00.. |

yes, but for video watching it could be the best (consider that i have had larger devices, 7", with the same resolution as a5 800X480, and, belive me, watching a movie on that thing was awesome!...)
anyway, for your actual needs, z2 screen is the best, from cowon.

Here's the difference between both screen types: ![]() (Left: RGB; Right: Pentile) RGB AMOLED screens have a better quality than Pentile AMOLED ones. Thus, the Z2 displays colors worse than the J3. But the Z2 has a higher resolution. Now it's up to you what is more important for you - colors vs resolution.

wow, thnx for the explanation, kizune, i always asked myself, why does the z2 have some different colors than j3... i mean,... i have seen a slightly difference, but i always thought, that it was because of some settings done by me, and it was something, like a deffective unit... now i understand...
the z2's screen has more distant pixels, but, they look like they can make a better image overall... it looks different, now, that you look at it, this way....

Yes, thanks Kizune, for the explanation.
Crap, now I am really conflicted, without being able to see the difference myself (no retail stores in Canada carry Cowon products), I might stick with my S9 for now. ![]() BTW, I just noticed this comparison image in Kizune's Cowon Z2 Review is the banding in the solid areas on the Z2 screen a result of the Pentile AMOLED screen? ![]() Last edited by razput1n; 04-30-2012 at 17:46.. |
