Default Impossible to get Google Play to work

Yes... I can't make it work.

I followed Gungr's tutorial which worked perfectly when Google Play was still the Android Market... but it doesn't work anymore.
Then, I downloaded different versions of GoogleServicesFramework.apk and Vending.apk (the latest ones, older ones, everything) and installed them (device is rooted of course)... The problems that occur vary a little, but I've never managed to make it work flawlessly.
The usual problems I get:
- Google Play cannot connect to the internet (either it displays "Server Error" or it keeps showing the loading circle)
- Google Play starts, but as soon as I try to install an app, it force-closes (yes, it's Google Play itself, NOT GoogleServicesFramework) - when I then start it, it immediately force-closes

I also cleared the cache/all data of Google Play, but the problems re-occur. I also did 5 system resets (so it's in factory-state) and re-registered my Google account on the Z2 ~30 times.

I tried it all day and I'm angry as hell. Android has so many flaws that annoy me, but this one is the worst.
(The second-worst problem is that my Z2 kills my LAN network when I use WLAN... interestingly, my sister's Samsung Galaxy doesn't do that, but I don't know what version of Android it's running)

-Force Stop+Clear Cache Google Services Framework via setting/manage apps Tab ALL
-Force Stop+Clear Cache Googleplay via setting/manage apps Tab ALL

I followed your steps exactly how you described, but Google Play still crashes as soon as I start it. :/

Thanks to this post I finally got it to work!

(That wasn't necessary when Google Play was still the "Market" :/)

So, it wasn't being installed as a system app,...interesting. Glad it's working for you now. And I'm STILL glad I'm not getting this. I personally dislike Android on a dap in general. Just sayin',...

I don't know how well Android works on smartphones and if Cowon screwed something up on the Z2 up... but I do know that I don't like my Z2's Android. Sure, there are plenty of apps and games which is very awesome... but I've never had any major problems with my Palm Pre smartphone (which uses webOS obviously). It feels a lot more mature than my Z2.

Also, I prefer my J3 over the Z2 when it comes to music playback because it reacts way faster.

After having it for almost two years I love my Droid X, but I can't say I'd ever want to use it as a DAP while I have an alternative.

Android is meant for a constant on connection to the "cloud", as much as I hate that term. It's great for Internet, gaming, email, telephony, etc. as a stand alone media playing OS I find it sucky. It's slow, a battery killer, buggy, can crash like a mofo (I've owned numerous Android phones & tablets, only the SGP 5.0 didn't crash on me), and I find it unreliable. It's like it refuses to run correctly UNLESS it's connected to an always-on Internet connection. And Cowon tweaking it made it worse IMO.

For me, a straight up Cowon player is excellent WITHOUT Android. Put Android on it and it's poop!!! IMO, YMMV.

Default Layman's response

It wasn't made to do that, fool. I don't even think the NTFS is proprietary from MS. It's Linux, you know, open code. Third party ain't good enough for you, and why?
