S9 vs. Iphone 3GS

I found this frequency response for Iphone 3gs and it seems flawless. Can it match with the Cowon S9? Have Apple done something god, or is it the devils trick on us?

The GSMArena test is probably made without load - or the iPhone 3GS really got the bass roll-off right contrary to all other iPods before it (depends only on how the signal path is implemented, even the Sansa Clip does it right). In any case, without any other reference or explanation, the GSMArena test doesn't really say anything. My tests below are from the iPhone 3G (not GS).

Thanks for the help, but he does not accept test with iphone 3g. He is to stubborn.

By him, the sound circuit in 3GS is a Cirrus Logic Crystal CS42L61, but I can't verfiy this information.

He is a head-fi.org guy, and the amplifier is so powerfull that you do not need an external amplifier to drive your headphones via LOD.

"No load" means low resistans (ohm)? So confused

Ah, it's not "load" as in "cream" they mean, but "impedance". Ie, the impedance of any headphones have. What they call "no load" is probably at the corresponding line signal 10kOhm ie, the lower the impedance the more "cargo". In the above example uses one 16Ohm which is right for low normal headphones but probably common for in-ear headphones (the lower impedance gives lower frequency, as it does in the example, so tell it to in-ear headphones have not even been to a sporting compete with the real trick that usually have 32ohm and upwards = straighter frequency time what you may assume). What it looks like you can probably forget the great deep bass with most in-ear headphones.

Unfortunately gsmarena not saying exactly how they are measured, but probably measuring 3GS pretty good even at the so-called "load" as the listeners, including myself, who praises the sound quality makes it at listening with real trick and not by measuring. It does sound as if from a great stereo, and not any small portable device, using adult lurks. With in-ear, as always, the outcome more unpredictable, partly due to the above reasoning, but also that they sound so very different on depending on whose ears they are in. But whatever the choice of in-ear trumpet so should all do better if signal on the headphone jack is so colorless as possible.

Not Iphones, only the 3GS when it comes to really high impedance headphones, but we still do not how it performs with regular headphones and you still not get the BBE+ functions.

BBE+ functions makes the S9 a much better sound device and no Iphone/ipod in the world can compete with that

EDIT: And the S9 have a superior video screen that makes ordinary LCD screens look bad, only Alpha IPS panels should be able to come near the AMOLED screens in quality. Ipad do not have an Alpha IPS screen only just a ordinary IPS which can be both only good or just bad compared to AMOLED.

I don't understand in the left part that is for lows( bass band) cowon drops but in reality the boss is more rich than iriever, sansa, iphone...

That is total bollocks. there is no way I only just get a line that flat out of my £3,000 marantz amp and they only acheived that by giving it a response from 10-90khz even still there is some slight drop towards 22k, I refuse to beleive anything "Cr-apple" have made could even come close this is Heresy!!

You might also note there not a single mention on harmonic distortion or signal to noise ratio which are two of the most important things to consider when reviewing an audio output

cowon, with eq, on real life wins over all iphones. i have a freind of iphone, and tested it against cowon j3 (same sound as s9). know what?.. that person is going to sell his iphone, to buy a j3!
