I want the fastest most ram bang for my buck, It seems I can't find the right mem for my mobo. Can someone help this relative noob out? I can't find single channel DDR2 4x2gb sticks. I really wanted to do dual channel 1066mhz 2x2gb sticks before I found out how dumb I was to buy this comp without much research at all. Oh yeah I'm not a gamer, but I do want to future proof this Windows 7 machine a little and will be buying a 64gb SSD in the near future to boot from. Thanks for any help you might be able to pass along, 2forty Thanks

Corsair and Crucial have always been winners for me. I have built over 50 machines.
Are you sure you need 1066? These would be good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145247 If you are not going to overclock, this should be fine. I run it in both my Q6600 machines (I overclocked the CPU - 3.0 Ghz, but not the RAM): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145184

Okay I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to Computer Hardware.
Could any of you suggest what kind of hardware upgrades I'd need to make in order to better the performance of my Laptop? ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us

About all you can do with a laptop is add memory and a new hard drive. 4GB of memory is usually plenty for a laptop.

Memory • Single-channel DDR2 memory architecture • 2 x 240-pin DDR DIMM socket support up to 8 GB • Support DDR2 667/533/400 DDR2 SDRAM Oh and someone asked what type of processor i have... its a Pentium Dual Core E5400 @ 2.70ghz and its got some 45nm lithography son. ![]() thanks in advance, 2forty

If you haven't gone to crucial.com yet, you really should. They have a memory "wizard" that in my experience is pretty effective. Also very fast shipping.

If you are not planning on serious overclocking of the CPU and memory speeds, anything faster than PC2-6400 will be a waste of money. I kicked my 2.4 Ghz Q6600 up to 3.0 Ghz without overclocking the memory, so the normal speed RAM is fine.

Agreed. I also think a 800 MHz memory could be enough. And I would recommend G.Skill as well as Crucial or Corsair

the information you have posted in the first post, it says you only can use Rams with Support DDR2 667/533/400 DDR2 SDRAM so I don't think you can use 800 HZ ram( maybe if you overclock ) but that won't work stable (mostly) as the information you said shows you can use 667 HZ max so if you use a ram with low cls it well Recover the low bus of your ram.
but I think you might be able to use better rams if you just post your Motherboard model that well really help.
