I had my g2 for about 2 years I think. Last week the battery died, so I replaced it. Popped in a used cheap one because I just had it at the time. It died fairly quick. Popped in a new AA battery and didn't hear any sound. It would just flash "IAUDIO" for like a milisecond then go blank again when I hit the On button. I thought maybe it was the battery and tried like 4 different new ones; same problem. Anyone go through the samething and know what can I do about it? I'm pretty sure the warranty is over. Is it a paperweight now? Is this the average life for a G2? Thanks for looking.

Have you tried to connect the G2 to your PC yet?
I don't lnow what the average life for a G2 is.. Mine celebrates it's 3rd birthday next month, but I have not been using it much since I bought a D2 last year.

I hear it connect, but nothing pops up like before. No autoplay. Screen on the player says 'ready' but cuts off. When I search for the drive manually, it says something about an I/O error. Oh well, it doesn't matter now. I just got myself a new player. Thanks for the reply man.

> Screen on the player says 'ready' but cuts off. When I search This happened to my 3 yr old 1GB G3 about a year ago. I re-installed the firmware, re-formatted, etc., to no avail. I tried various combinations like holding the on button while I plugged it in to the USB or put the battery in, etc., but no joy. I left it for a couple of days and plugged it in again, and miraculously.... the drive showed up! It's been working ever since. So don't give up on these little b*st*rds too quickly. As I hate built-in batteries, a month ago I bought a couple of Creative muvo v100's as they were disappearing from Walmart. They only had pink ones left :-( At $20 they were good value. I gave one to my son at college, and I use the other while exercising. While in Australia at xmas I bought a 4GB el cheapo player for $40 at "JB HiFi", for my sister-in-law. I checked it out and it works well for audiobooks (handles alphabetical depth-first play order). Both the above use one AAA battery and have "resume" though not proper bookmarking. If anyone wants to know the model of the one in Oz, let me know. We're talking primitive players here, for people who really want disposable batteries. Just thought I'd mention it. Tschuess! |
