Who is gonna keep their D2, and/or...

Almost dropped a tear there, amigo And i second what you say. If you really think about everything the D2 has, with some little flaws, and hoping rockbox will solve them, you gut such an awesome player in form factor, size expandability, SQ!, apps (for casual use)...

Damn this player si so great! plus today I enjoyed my D2 even more and took away the idea of buying an S9 when I tried it with Grado Sr60, sr80, sr125 and rs1, and just fell in love with the combination.

I don't know for sure. Maybe it's a little to early to make such a decision?
I had a D2 for over a year, and got it stolen from me on the subway a couple of weeks ago (I hate this country...). I really loved the player, and got a very "personal" relationship with it. It was also unique in the sense that no one had a player like this (you can only find iPods and chinese standard players) here. So right now I'm using my old Sansa e200 until I can buy a new one. Of course, I have to wait for someone to fly to the USA for that... I really hate this country.
Anyway, I'll try to buy a new D2 as soon as possible. Even if the S9 was available right now, I couldn't find enough information to ensure that I would have a better overall experience than with my old D2 (let's be honest, I only used it to listen to music... bells and whistles are fun for a couple of weeks at the most). I miss it so much...
Maybe once we get some real users experience... but the most probable is that I will end up buying a D2 again, and I'm pretty sure I won't regret it.

Oh, yes, by the way. They also took the Bose In Ears that I was using with the player. Great sound although not the best. Still those were $100 more to the pile.

My D2 with ATH-CK300M were nearly stolen too. I was ready to do anything for them but making some decesions and negotiations I ended up giving 50$ and got my stuff back. But they took my cheap chiniese 5$ wristwatch too.

I love my D2 heaps, and will probably keep it forever. Its got so many useful functions, and the size is right. Stellar sound quality sealed the deal.

Having said all this, I may buy a S9 since I'm so addicted to playing around shiny new gadgets.

I had it in a small bag that I carry hanging from my shoulders. I am very careful with my stuff (being an engineer helps me being obsessive about everything), but someone carefully took it off my bag when I was on the subway. I was travelling with a friend and when he got off I wanted to listen to some music... just to find the bag had been opened .
Luckily they didn't take my wallet nor my Palm, but the D2 was on top of all of them. I miss it so much.
Amazon won't send electronics to Argentina, and still didn't find any store that would do it. I was lucky last time, when I wanted to buy the D2, my father was about to travel to NY, and had him buy it in B&H. Now I'll have to wait and find someone else to do it again.

im actually thinking about getting the 8gb P2 black. my friend had a p2 so i fiddled around with it and it is really decent.
I updated his P2 to a korean firm with dictionary etc.
Also bluetooth 2.0 is really incredible....let your laptop do the wifi...bluetooth is the real deal for pmp's.
if all goes good, amazon has them for 170USD so its a great deal.

How is the skinning of P2 black?... allows you change its appearance regularly?
What about flash applications?
ordering by ID3 tag works fine... includes also the slot card?
and displaying of cover art?

I have no interest in the S9 because of its lack of expansion. I'm not that crazy about the D2 (lousy UI, proprietary battery, no line out) but it does what I bought it for and Rockbox may make it possible to fix the UI. I'm open to the idea of a D3 if one appears, but of course I'd have to know first what it does.
