Hi all!
I made an application which makes the maps for you! It's made with a programming language called Autoit (www.autoitscript.com) and it makes the map with imageSplit. It starts it and just acts like a user who sends keyboard messages to imgsplit (like ctrl+n for a new file). It's put all in one executable to make it easy for you. The only thing you have to tell it is the name of the map (you may choose it), the path of the picture of the map and the path of the output folder, which will probably be your D2/FLASH folder. It can sometimes have problems, like that it stops on opening the new file. You should stop the application then (with taskmanager: ctrl+alt+delete) and restart it. This can happen because it might be too fast with sending the characters to splitimg. You should just try it again then. I tested this on windows Vista x64 (x64 = 64 bit), on most computers windows XP (rarely 64 bit) or windows Vista x86 (x86 = 32 bit) is installed. That's why I compiled it on 2 ways: 64 and 32 bit (I don't know if there is any difference). If you are not sure which version you use: just use 32 bit. Remember that this is a beta version of the program so it can contain errors. Please report any bugs you see to me so I can fix them! Downloads: D2 Mapcreator beta (32 bit, normal version) - download D2 Mapcreator beta (64 bit) - download For programmers or people who want to learn programming: I uploaded the source code for you. I putted behind almost every line of code a comment with explanation, so if you want to learn autoitscript it might be handy to. I'm not a really good programmer, so don't expect me to use the most neat things, I just used the (excellent) help file much for every function and used the first I found which worked. D2 Mapcreator sourcecode (autoit .au3 file) - download I hope you all enjoy my program and I hope also that there are as little as possible bugs so it can quickly be released as a normal version so more people have confidence it's safe to use - which it should be now as i tried to make it as good as possible. Bye! Vincent |

This is very funny, I made a bash script to generate a map!!
![]() So, mine is dedicated to Linux users. The script is here and you can look at the code directly on this html page. Just save the script in your path (for example /usr/local/bin) and launch : "domap carte.jpg". It will create the folder "map" with all the pictures and generate the config file. The script will first check that a folder named "map" does not already exist, it's for security reason. You need ImageMagick for this, but it's by default on many distros. PS : I'm still with fw 2.51 so I don't use your program yet. But 2.58 (when?) should finally solve the OGG sort issue and I will then update my D2.

No, it's working well, my detection of width and height is better
And dude, we're linux users, we don't need a GUI for such a trivial thing ![]()

I wrote a new map viewer. Its main new feature is the support of several zoom levels, given as separate maps. Also, it supports tiles of any size, so you don't have to cut and patch the tiles from Google Maps anymore. Finally, it supports seeking the jpegs elsewhere on the disk, therefore you can put them under the \system directory, so that the D2 will not scan them when rebuilding the file database, which avoids breaking the file number limit.
I am attaching the applet and its source code, which contains a README explaining how to create a map. A newer version can be found in message 289. Last edited by lhab; 07-30-2008 at 17:45.. Reason: remove older version |

How would I go about compiling this stuff on a Mac?
<--- has had VERY little programming experience and should just not pretend to know anything at all. |

You don't need to compile it, you can just use the included map.swf.
BTW, I wrote a zsh script to download tiles from google maps easily, which I am attaching to this post. You just call it as gmdump Z X1 Y1 X2 Y2 where Z is the zoom level (0 max, 16 min), X1 and Y1 are the longitude and latitude of the upper left corner of the rectangle to download, and X2 and Y2 the coordinates of the lower right corner. The coordinates should be given in degrees as decimal numbers, with eastern longitudes and northern latitudes positive. The easiest way to determine the coordinates is to open google maps on the area, right click, and choose "Get directions from/to here". You get the coordinates in new input fields on the left. This script waits a few seconds between each download in the hope that Google won't realize what it is doing. You can find the script in message 279. Last edited by lhab; 07-30-2008 at 17:41.. Reason: pointer to latest version of the script |
