So, I've taken apart my D2. Heres what it looks like from the inside. The battery is swappable.
And if your any good at soldering you can add yourself a 8GB SAMSUNG NAND Flash memory module. Thus making your D2 at 12GB! ![]() Not sure if it will work 100% but it should! I know if you add a 4GB Samsung NAND Flash it will work no problem. ![]() I have blurred out a few parts of the picture with serial numbers. Last edited by M3CSL; 06-11-2008 at 03:27.. |

I was thinking about swapping out the chip on my 4GB unit and adding two 8GB chips. I just can't find a source of the Samsung chips yet.
Anyone?

How hard is it to take apart? Would it be easy to say, replace the battery DIY? And if so does anyone know the exact kind of battery, or if you could put in a longer lasting one?

Are the pins the same? The 16GB D2 might only have a single 16GB flash chip. You would also need to get a copy of the D2's schematic. And the datasheet of the flash chip. You also have to be really experienced in soldering/desoldering. Those small pins are not easy to solder.

hmm, being easy to take apart should make battery replacement down the line easier.

I am certified on micro miniature soldering. It is not easy, but I can do it.
I was bummed out yesterday though. I opened my 8GB D2 yesterday and discovered that the open space is no longer a TSOP package. The unit was bought in January. I will post a picture when I get a chance.
