Basic *natural* lanyards?

OK, so I like using a lanyard for the player. However, I cannot stand hearing the player through that stiff plastic and metal!

Does anyone know a place to find lanyards that aren't made of metal or plastic? Actual cotton would be preferred. I wouldn't have thought it was hard (a few specialty stores with odd stuff to sift through, and I'd find it), but I was amazed at the number of specialty ID stores online.
