Unreal!
They actually managed to make me feel good about owning an A2. Nothing in this new spec makes me feel like I should have waited (granted, I've had my A2 for over 6 months now). It's a sad fact but nothing is that new in this new one, it's got MKV and APE support which is nice, DRM support which is useless (Microsoft don't support it themselves!), and a USB2.0 Host function which is a very nice addition. Other than that, it's an A2! That Da Vinci chipset is probably what enabled the MKV/APE/DRM support and nothing more. |

Hello all,
From what I see here, it looks more like an update than anything else. It makes me feel good about my A2 (a one year love story now), but I will upgrade anyway if it's worth it. For now, I am not quite sure. The fact that there is no bigger than 30GB capacity available, and even more importantly that this is the same case, makes it look like an update really. Do I need the updates? Not really, except maybe if the video recording quality is improved. For the rest, not really. But that's just my point of view. Do we know when it's going to be available and where? Have a nice day Stephane |

Curious how A3 and Q5 will fit in the product line. From specs the Q5 has the A3 for lunch. Price, maybe?

^Price is _definitely_ a distinguishing factor, and a lot of people won't need or be interested in a lot of the Q5's features I imagine, _especially_ when they see the price.

Maybe the TV option will be released internationally, with the A3. But, is it DVB-T or DVB-H? |

The only thing that attracks me is the (for what it looks like) 3-D GUI, other than that the A3 is just an A2 on esteroids.

The specs list nothing about a bigger harddrive? Wow this is turning out to be a disapointment. Seems like the a3 has the all the features that just couldn't be updated in a firmeware update for the a2, without hardward changes that is.

Im somewhat frustrated now. I bought mine in november, but seeing as this one has mkv/ogm, it would save me hours of encoding -_-'

I believe it was quoted as 4", furthermore, I disagree with the 60GB HD option being possible, if you compare the sizes, they are exactly the same size, at least depth-wise and we saw that a bigger (dual platter) can't fit in there...

Their are three main things I don't like about my A2.
1. 30GB hard drive. It's 10GB less than what I am used to and 30GB less than what I dream of. The A3 shoud fix this the cnet video is correct in saying a 60GB version will come to market. 2. Laggy GUI and button response times...especially in powersave mode. The Divinci chipset should fix this while improving battery life at the same time. I look forward to a more responsive user interface. 3. No support for my growing collection of V0 encoded mp3's. It's getting to a point now where a lot of the newer music in my collection can't play correctly. I was going to look for another mp3 player soon just based on this. But the A3 will fix this. I can't wait to buy one. |
