Default Suggestions for an Ogg Vorbis Encoder

Hi, I'm trying to compress my sound collection even further, and thought I'd use Ogg due to its great reviews. But I haven't been able to find any GUI encoders that could do batch files.

Any1 have suggestions for programs to convert mp3 --> Ogg (i know that's horrible, but i want to put more songs in)?

Thanks

hmm there is besweet, which also supports ogg and batch encoding. It might be a littlebit overhelming with the amount of options so I would also dl belight, the light gui for besweet. Both avabile at doom9

Please, please, please, please, please, don't re-encode your mp3 files as Ogg.

If you MUST, I suggest using oggenc in the command line. It has no GUI but it will be much easier to use... just type a single line and have your whole directory re-encoded.

Transcoding from one compressed format to another makes a much greater loss of quality than encoding from an uncompressed source.

MP3 compression removed parts of the audio that are fine for listening to when you keep it in MP3 format. But when you furthermore transcode it to OGG, then also the parts that OGG doesn't need are removed, too (which are different to the parts that MP3 already ditched). So the quality suffers a lot from transcoding.

BTW: Here's the list of recommended OGG codecs: http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index....ded_Ogg_Vorbis
