I've been searching for the last couple of days for a program which would let me import routes I plan online (saved as a gpx file) and lets me open it using a mapping program on the D3 which I could use on the go later when I haven't got access to wifi. Most them were pretty hard to work with since they wouldn't even open without gps and wouldn't use wifi just to get into the mapping functions.
Anyway, after a lot of trial and error I've been using Orux Maps which seems to be working well. It has a useful option for creating maps whilst using the online map function via wifi. The created maps are then automatically loaded as necessary when offline. It also lets me open GPX files/routes which it overlays on the map.
Anyway, below I'll post the blurb about it. I don't own a GPS device which I could use whilst cycling however this program gives me a good mapping device I can use whilst cycling for reference.

OruxMaps is a FREE application for Android.
OruxMaps is a map viewer. It can work in two modes: online with google, microsoft, yandex,... maps, and offline, with calibrated maps for OruxMaps
If you want to work offline, you need to calibrate your own maps. It is neccesary:
- You can create your offline maps from online sources, with the built-in Map Creator (See the manual section)
- Create a map from scratch with a customized version of TB Atlas Creator (See the download section)
- OruxMapsDesktop + image (the map) + coordinates of the four corners
- OruxMapsDesktop + a calibrated map for OziExplorer. There are a lot of applications that allow you to create Ozi maps (see Links section)
