Just a few minutes ago I successfully managed to open jetAudio in Linux, using Wine 20050725 in Ubuntu Hoary.
I may post a how-to once I have everything setup. So far, the most annoying problem is that the installer hangs at the very beggining. You need to run an already installed jetAudio (for example installed in windows). You can simply copy your jetAudio folder to somewhere in your linux partitions, are run it using wine <path-to-jetAudio>/JetAudio.exe Here are my results from what I have tried so far: * Sound: jetAudio works flawlessly so far. Sound quality is excellent (up to par with what you get in Windows). X-Surround, X-Bass and the BBE effects seem to be working. For X-Surround, that means you get a very nice output in all of the speakers in 4.1+ speaker configurations. * Interface: All in all response times seem very fast. I don't notice any lags while loading the menu, changing settings, etc. IMHO the tray menu runs smoother than in my windows parition! Also, I don't notice any glitches in how elements are drawn, which is nice, considering the whole interface is skinned. * Visualizations: I have tried PixelTrip only. It loads and works fine, if you don't move the viz window. If you do, the viz seems to be disabled (black screen). * Video: Haven't tested yet, as I still need to install some codecs ![]() PS: If there's someone else (besides myself) interested in this, take a look at the CodeWeaver's Install Challenge. I was going to fill a form for the jetAudio installer, but I feel lazy about shipping a copy via mail. And finally, some screenshots of jetAudio-linux in action: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Very very cool. Would you mind giving us some more detailed info on how you managed this? When i try and run the setup.exe from the Cowon CD in wine, the first window appears, but wine crashes before the progress bar has reached 100% for the first time. What versions/distro/etc. are you using?

Don't bother, it works now, partially at least.
The application works, video conversion doesn't, which was the only reason I needed it.

I have Ubuntu 10.04. JetAudio Basic is installed. The audio files play but no video files can play. I did have a pop up that said in order to play video I needed to install Windows Media 9 Runtime files.
Tell me what to look for on my XP operating system and I will copy it over. I do have JetAudio installed on my Windows XP. |
